darkblue -- sending all kinds of positive vibes for your and your family's safety.
7/1 Weekly Thread - Page 2
Darkblue! NO!! No more fires!! I hope you guys are all safe tonight and that all of your possessions are spared. Sending some giant hugs your way and prayers up.
On an incredible note- I attended a homebirth today! The mama I held the mama blessing for last week had her little girl in the water this afternoon. It was beautiful and amazing and everything that I wish all mamas could go through. When I got there around 2pm, she was still laughing and even dancing a little in between contractions. Then, two hours later, her baby was born. Being pregnant and attending births as a doula wasn't too much harder than before, either! It was just a wonderful day over here.
I finally got rid of migraine! It took a trip to the hospital for fluids tho and now I am on a "daily drinking challenge". I have to fill my drink bottle and drink it twice then have a few cups of teas around that too! It has worked so far phewf!!!
We are almost completely settled into new house, we just have to move our huge wardrobe tomorrow and little other things then the nesting begins!!
Ohh I also have a job interview tomorrow its for a homewards/imported goods and clothes store. It's very Asian-y and "hippy" so it would suit me to a T!!! Now to find clothes that hide the bump but look professional!!!
Will pop back on tomorrow to update!! New house doesn't have net so am on the phone!
I second what cieloazul says. Calm and serene weather and thoughts to you and your family darkblue.
Cieloazul-thank you for the info on the free meditation resources, I will check them out immediately.
Natalie--SO AWESOME that you were able to attend a homebirth. It sounds wonderful!
What's everyone up to for the 4th? I usually don't get too into it, we were never allowed to light fireworks as a kid, although I do love the big productions. But this year we're having some family over to grill and I'm in charge of salad and cake, woo hoo!
Geez, everyone in the fire zone, BE SAFE!! And sending lots of calm zen your way.
As for the 4th, I'm still in pjs. Going to go for a walk, make deviled eggs, and then head over to my sister's in -laws house. Both our families are playing together today. pool, food, etc.
doing well other than that. lots of yoga teaching opportunities coming my way, almost done with school, and my big kids come home friday!
Thank you everyone for the kind words.
Darkblue - I thought of you immediately when I realized where the fire was coming from (for those who don;t know we live very close, basically across a mountain ridge from each other, so I could see the smoke from the fire near her home). I even said to DP - what a bizzare coincience that two of us from this list would be experiencing the same kind of thing. I hope you & your family were able to stay home, safely. And honestly, there were many, many moments where 'poised' was not a word that could have been used to describe me.
I've been making food all day for this evening's feast. It's so nice to read everyone's updates about 'normal' life. Christy, you OK? you mentioned trauama but didn;t say much else.
OH! And we heard baby's heartbeat on MOnday - I had an audience of 10 of the kids, DH, his partner, & our 'neighbor' who ilves on our land - DP was working :(. There was much cheering when baby finally sat still long enough to find a HB. It was very sweet - the 2yo is on the recording saying "Baby! Heartbeat!"
I am a bit flabbergasted because DH decided to take all three kids on a 2-day trip out of state. I am all by my ownsome for the next 36 hours or so. Well, except the annoying dog! And the baby inside, of course. I want to get so much done, but so far I have been reading, dealing with email, etc.
The trip is because we STILL don't have medical coverage here where we are living and DS2 (age 6) has a horrible cavity which is hurting him every time he eats. He is not a kid who can stand to not eat for a week or so while we wait - skinny, skinny, skinny, and he really crashes when his blood sugar drops because he has no fat reserves at all. Our old dentist, who is about a 2 hour drive away, was able to see him today, so they all left by 8 this morning. I am perplexed - I'm glad I haven't told the insurance from the old state that we've moved yet but I also don't want to be ripping off the system . . ..
Sego, that's a great story about all the people gathered to hear the heartbeat!
darkblue, so glad to hear all is well! My heart is sad just thinking about everyone whose lost their homes and been put into such difficult situations, and I'm so glad that you and Segolily and your families and homes are safe.
How was everyone's Fourth of July holiday? I really enjoyed having the day off, even thought DH had to work until four. I chilled at the beach and hung out with family, which was so nice, then we went and watched fireworks downtown and got popsicles. I also got a fun little notebook and started my "Labour and Birth Book" for my labour. I'm going to fill it with quotes, verses and song lyrics that I love, moments of relaxation, tips for DH on how to help me relax, things I learn in Bradley class, etc. I'm hoping it will help DH to be able to reference it when I'm in labour, so he will have a fun resource to go through and pull out different things to encourage me. It's lots of fun and I'm looking forward to doing some birth art and cutting out relaxing/inspring photos as well. :)
darkblue - I'm so relieved for you! I've been constantly worried. And YAY now we have RAIN!!!!! And we really need to get together some time this summer - that fire did drive home for me just how close we live - perhaps your clan can come visit our clan for a BBQ & pool time :)
chica that sounds beautiful :)
mamab - I'm glad your son is getting the dental care he needs! my 10yo DS has been through dental hell the last week or so - he spent an afternoo just screaming & wailing while DH held him, and I ran around picking up his perscription, getting him what he needed, etc It's awful when your babies are in pain :(
I'm so glad for you, Darkblue. That's so scary. I bet you are so relieved that everything is alright! Now you can get back to baking and making more yummy food :)
SO, I was wondering why it was getting hard to sleep on my stomach already, thinking that it was too soon for that. But nope! Our uteruses are the sizes of cantaloupes already! We'll no wonder I can't get comfortable already!!
How has everyone's week been? We go in to have the anatomy scan this afternoon!
THANK YOU! Darkblue, that sounds so good. I'm going to make it for a family get together tonight and impress everyone. What a rollercoaster you all have been on! So glad to hear that everyone is safe. How are your babies doing?
Segolily-Have you all been able to recover a bit? Yay for heartbeats!! Your story is so cute...baby! heartbeat! BTW, my DH just taught our LO to say "Yay boobies!" It's hilarious now, but I have a feeling it's going to get us in trouble soon.
Chica-what a good idea! You are such a creative soul, I wish I could say the same for myself. I'm still putting together DD2's baby book. I have promised myself to get it done before this baby comes.
MamaB- How was your time alone? Blissful? Or did you miss everyone too much? Dental work is the WORST. My daughter tolerates it better than I do, but I just dread every trip to the dentist. How is he feeling?
Purposeful...did I see on another thread that you are having a boy?!? Congratulations mama! A sweet little boy to snuggle and chase. I was assuming that we were having another girl, but last night I had a dream about a baby boy. Now I just don't know!
Hope everyone has a lovely sunny weekend! Except you Utah gals... I hope you get more rain!
