Appointments? - Page 2

Kalamos, I'm so glad that your appointment went well, and holy cow to finding out a reason for all the heartache! I'm glad that your little bean is in a good spot and growing well. Thanks for the update!

Beautifulnm, did you confirm that they are giving you an ultrasound? I only ask because at my 1st ob appt For DD, I assumed there would b one and it wasn't scheduled. Good luck! My appt is just a day before yours. I hope we both see a heartbeat!

Betsy, I'm with you on wanting confirmation. I don't think theres anything wrong with early ultrasounds for peace of mind.

Ktietje, sorry about losing your midwives. I hope you like your new ones!

DH and I are meeting with a midwife this week for a meet and greet. I've heard wonderful things about this MW. We are wanting a homebirth this time around. I dont have a lot of questions in my mid more want to see how our personalities mesh.

Everyone seems to have appointments pretty early in their pregnancy! I will be 14 weeks before I am seen by anyone!! I have an appointment mid september and it feels soooo far away. I very much feel pregnant and all that, but somehow having an actual appointment feels like confirmation.

Good luck to everyone with your appointments and testing!

My first appointment is today... I have no idea what to expect, this is a new practice to me. I'm very anxious, just "because". No reason to think anything is wrong, but I am just praying that at worst I don't receive any upsetting news today and at best I might get a peek at the baby. That's not for sure, though, depends upon the availability of the US machine because I'm not officially scheduled for that.

I had a great appointment... they were able to do a quick vaginal US (which ended up being free, my insurance didn't cover it so they ended up not charging me!). Baby looks great, measuring 8 w 1 day... heart rate was 167... soooo happy!!! :)

Yay yay yay, I'm right there with you, (but only 6 weeks, 4 days), got a vaginal US today, and I was sooo happy to hear that hearbeat (126). Measuring right on target, yippee for both of us. I wasn't expecting to have an US yet, so what a nice surprise.

Yay for free and a great looking baby!

My MW told me today she'd rather have a mama less stressed and get an US than be freaking and not get one - I know a lot of MWs are anti US but less stress has to be better

I'm not being seen for reals until 13 weeks by my MW.  I can ask for an US starting next Friday, but I am going to hold out as long as I can

YAY for a great heartbeat and measurements

BeantownBaby, thanks for the reassurance. My midwife is pretty chill, and she wants to keep me chill. She gets it how stressful it can be, and she knows our history of loss, so she didn't want me to get a second hcg test because she was worried I would hyperanalyze the numbers, but for the same reason she offered us an u/s because she wants to hopefully put my mind at ease. I remember you from my last DDC. hug.gif It's good to see you again, and I'm sending you lots of sticky vibes! goodvibes.gif

Good to see you too, sticky vibes for both of us!!!  For the same reason, I chose not to do HCG this time.  I become a crazy person with math and statistics, which is my profession, and then apply it to betabase and other sites.  Trying to keep low stress and only if I freak between now and the end of September will I go in for the US.

Hey, guys. Please send me your positive energy. I have an early ultra-sound tomorrow morning (I'm 7 weeks). It was scheduled to make sure my ovary pain is nothing to worry about. After feeling so pregnant and nauseous this week, I'm feeling confident and am hoping to see little babe on the screen with dh. Wish me luck!

Clumsy - happy vibes being sent your way!

Congrats on all of the early u/s news to the rest of you. There's part of me that wishes that I was having one, but I think my symptoms are enough to convince me that this little one is doing OK.

We're still in the process of interviewing MWs, but honestly I think I know who I want to go with. We have one last interview scheduled for next Friday, but there's part of me that just wants to cancel it and commit to the one that I have a "good" feeling about. I've met her before at a childbirth professionals gathering and we just seemed to click. I might think about it a little more. Even if I did sign a contract with her, I might have an intake appointment in the next week or so, but nothing really formal until 12 weeks (I'm 8+4 now). That being said, there's something in my that just wants to get my MW set so I feel that I am officially progressing in pregnancy and have some peace of mind.

Anyone doing something fun this weekend? We're not, but that's OK. We've spent the better part of the last month either traveling or entertaining house guest, so a break is needed and welcomed.

Had my first ultrasound yesterday, found out that the size was consistent with 7 weeks and 1 day but that there was no heartbeat... So, looks like I'm out. No signs as of yet but will be going through my first m/c soon, sad and scared at the same time.

Signing off with positive thoughts and good wishes to all of you! Peace.gif

oh no mama, I'm so sorry to hear.  Peace and healing to you.

SuzieSmiles, I'm so sorry. hug.gif Take care of yourself! If you have any questions about m/c, feel free to ask or visit the loss forum. Big hugs! greensad.gif

Thanks so much for your kind words (Peace+Hope, Tear78 and beautifulNM - tried to reply to your pm but wouldn't let me, think because I'm new). Anyway, don't want to bring you guys down in your positive DDC, posting in the loss forum for support now. Maybe we'll meet up in a future DDC somewhere down the road:)

Sending loving thankful vibes to all grouphug.gif.

Suzie - considering the size is consistent with where you are - is it possible you have a retroverted uterus? I have heard it is VERY hard to see a heartbeat with one and seeing as the baby measured on target - I dunno. Big hugs for you either way.

kalamos23 - thanks for your support and suggestion about a retroverted uterus. I've never been told I had one but after researching it, I think I might be a candidate for having one. I'm thinking of calling on Monday to schedule a follow up ultrasound just to make sure. That is, if I still have no m/c symptoms by then. I should actually have been 8.3 weeks when tested, so with measuring at 7.1, it was kind of scary, but then again, maybe I ovulated late or something... It's hard to have hope when the doc said it wasn't a viable pregnancy after having both an abdominal and vaginal u/s. He is a naturopath and midwife with YEARS of experience (actually retiring at the end of this year). And, he is very skilled with the u/s. Although I know anyone can make a mistake and if I do happen to have a tilted uterus, I've since researched and learned that it can make the heartbeat hard to detect, even at 8 weeks...

Also, read through several posts on a website that someone recommended: http://www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com and it really made me think even more about asking for that 2nd ultrasound... Anyway, thanks again, will post if I end up having good news:)

I had an early ultra sound yesterday (I'm 7 weeks). We scheduled the interview the previous week at my intake appointment because of persistent ovary pain. As others in the ddc suggested, the pain is due to a luteum corpus cyst. We saw the baby which is developing on schedule; saw the heartbeat too. orngbiggrin.gif The midwife said I had small subchorionic hemorrhage and to just watch for any trickles of blood. Since I'm Rh negative I would need to go in and get a shot of rhogam. She said it was also possible that the blood might reabsorb. So, I'm feeling really optimistic and happy right now.
