We saw the OB yesterday - baby is measuring 9w4d and my EDD has been officially set as March 15.  Saw baby on the U/S and goodness he/she is a little wiggle worm!!!  Heartbeat was strong and everything looked normal.  Just one - no twins, lol!  Just a very feisty little bean.  :)

I am 10w5d today and just saw my midwife for the first time! We were also able to hear the baby's heart on the doppler, which was really exciting.

I am so excited for everyone who's heard the heartbeat or seen the baby or even just met with their hcp! I don't really know what my midwife looks like yet, well one of the two yes, but not the other. I have to wait until about 14 weeks to meet with them, so I decided to book an apt with my fam Dr. next week. I've also booked a dating utrasound so I am excited to go to that and the waiting seems so long! I never did that last time around, in fact we were going with no u/s with our first one until prelabout at 30 weeks.

But this time, with 2 under 4 at home and twins in the family, I just have a strong sense of wanting to check in and see this baby, make sure it`s just one in there and also date the pregnancy. I must have ovulated super late in my cycle, as in days before my period was due. So I really want to date this pregnancy this time around to help avoid the whole post-dates situation at the end, and make sure that if I have preterm this time, that they know the baby is about two weeks off the dates that would be calculated from lmp.

Anyways, excited and hopeful that everything is ok in there, for myself and everyone else!

Just got back from seeing the mw & got to hear the heartbeat - 160 bpm! I'm 11w 4d. It's such a nice relief to hear that little bean. My blood pressure was up a bit, so I'm going to check it here at home a little later today, but otherwise everything looks good. Bring on the second trimester!

Ugh. I hate Chicago. It's really really stressing me out, this whole care provider thing. I thought I picked one, but now I've spent the last five days trying to call and e-mail her with no response, so I'm starting to think about moving onto someone else. I was really hoping to hear the heartbeat this week.

Ditto that! I just moved to the area and have found the process of finding a homebirth midwife somewhat stressful! We just met with someone today who will be "the one" - only downside is that she's not really accessible by public transport from my house. We don't own a car (and I'd like to keep it that way), so it looks like I may have to rent a Zipcar for appointments. With my last pregnancy (while living in a different city) the midwives came to my house for all appointments, which was heavenly.

On the upside: we heard the heartbeat today (11 weeks)!!! 150bpm, loud and clear

Hi everybody! I'm going to x-post from another thread because I'm beat, but I wanted to share:

We spent the morning in the German ER investigating what was probably a gall bladder attack last night. I've been having pain under my right rib cage for almost 2 weeks, often after eating, and last night I ate a cheese casserole. Within 30 minutes I was in lots of pain from my side up through my shoulder and teeth. After bloodwork, urine tests, and ultrasounds, they found nothing to explain it and chalked it up to gas (which is, btw, a symptom of gall bladder disease). I talked to my mom and she said that she thought she had just gas for years until her last attack when she was doubled over and couldn't breathe right. Her gall bladder was full of stones. She thinks I probably passed some debris last night and they couldn't see it today. I had some ice cream today and had more "gas" pain in exactly the same spot: where my gall bladder is. Anyway, I'm cutting out fat until I get home and I'm going to follow up. Ugh... The upside of this is that we got to see our little wiggle worm #2, and he/she seems to be doing well, with arms and legs and everything, measuring punctually at 10w0d. It made everything seem so much more real, and what a relief (for now at least)! And we get to see the little one again next Monday at our next OB/midwife appointment. Now....to bed! What a day! DD was a champ and such a good sport.

Tear78 - I hope your pain resolves for you and/or the docs figure out what's going on so you can "try" to feel better. I can't imagine dealing with that. My IBS has been flaring up lately, which is the pits, but nothing like your describing. On the plus side, I'm glad you got to see your healthy little bean!

AFM - We're headed to our 1st tri u/s & testing tomorrow morning. I can't wait! I'm really excited to see the LO, especially since this is one of two u/s's I'll be doing over the course of this pregnancy. I'll let you know how it goes. I had some bloodwork done last week at my MW appt, but haven't heard anything from her. I take this as a sign that everything is OK.

I had my first visit with the Dr. on Thursday.  It went well.  About an hour. 

I had my first ultrasound on Friday.  It was pretty neat seeing the heatbeat.

I still need to call a midwife and meet with her.

I had my first appointment with my midwife yesterday.  I'm about 9 weeks, but since DP was there we decided to see if we could hear the heartbeat since he likely won't be able to make the next appointment (2 hour commute), and we actually heard it!  I was definitely shocked since last time I didn't hear it until my first ultrasound (14 weeks).  The midwife said it was the earliest she'd ever heard it, and she said that my uterus felt high for 9 weeks so she's recommending that I go for a dating ultrasound.  I wasn't going to originally since last time my EDD got moved back a week and I almost ended up being induced at 41w6, but without the dating I would have had another week.  I'm pretty sure on my dates though, so we will see.

Not sure about the HBAC.  She'll allow it, but recommends against it.  DP isn't keen on the idea, even though we attempted one last time. The spectre of uterine rupture scared him.  When she said that after first signs of a problem they had 30 minutes to get the baby out, he sort of looked freaked out.  But we live 5 minutes from a regional health centre, which I think means they have the OR ready to go at the drop of a hat.  Either was it's still early, I have time to think about the options.

I had my first appointment this week and got a dating ultrasound and got to see the baby andn the heartbeat! It was very exciting and we brought our 4 yrs old and 2 year old into the room to see the baby and the heart beat. It was an awesome moment to share that with them!  I went in first by myself to see that everything looked ok and then the tech went out to get the rest of my family. I'll never forget the look on my 4 yr olds face!

My next appointment is in 4 weeks with the midwife this time. I look forward to meething her and getting a sense of what she is like and how she practices.

Had my first prenatal today.   I heard the heartbeat, which was in the 150s.  And, I LOVE my midwife! :D

Well I saw my mw today, hoping to hear a heartbeat, but no :(  At 11 weeks apparently there's a 50/50 chance, and my mw didn't seem worried, but I kind of am. But apparently due to my advanced maternal age there are a bunch of tests offered to me that other plebes have to beg for or something.  So I am going to be a bad, bad person and have an NT scan done next week just because I can, and I'm paranoid, and dammit there are very few perks that come with being over 40 and pregnant so I might as well take advantage of this one!
