We are pretty private people and, aside from a few close friends, don't announce pregnancies until 16 weeks or later. I just don't want the attention, and I would never want to have to explain a miscarriage to very many people.
With our last baby, we told our older kids before we told most people, around 12 weeks. Their response: "What? Um, why?"
Let's just say I'm hoping for a better reaction this time. The younger kids will be happy but the almost-14 and almost-16yos are so busy with their own lives, even planning their own futures. They aren't going to see the point of adding another sibling.
Any ideas? We're not a Hallmark kind of family, we're pretty straight-up, blunt, simple, so I'm probably not going to bake a cake with an announcement on it, or that sort of thing. :)
