Guilty food confessions, or, the baby made me eat it. :) - Page 4

I have been eating an embarrassing amount of discounted Halloween candy...

Teles-

that was my plan.  i just can't get out w/ out kids to get any!!!

my body is more forgiving during pregnancy too and i can eat dairy and some grains more than when not pregnant.  and a lot more.  i was thinking the last few days that my stomach acid levels are much stronger since i can eat more smaller meals all day and my stomach is emptying way faster than normal.  this is good b/c there's not much room IN it!  it needs to empty out so i can put more food in there!

cravings:

cereal. i want cereal all day, every day. with almond milk. i used to make my own almond milk, but i just don't feel like it anymore.

lemon water. i squeeze and drop a 1/4 lemon in a huge glass of water. i love lemon!

orange juice, oranges. grapefruit with a little sugar sprinkled on top.

baked potatoes with earth balance.

i cannot believe i am still having cravings. i wanted dairy for the first time in years yesterday, but didn't cave because dairy is gross, and it would not make me feel good-physically or mentally.

The only constant for me lately is the orange/OJ thing. And occasionally cookies that I am usually too tired to make lol orngtongue.gif  My appetite has gone wayyy down too.

I made cinnamon sticky buns from scratch and have eaten 4 today.  Baaad mommy!!

Food has been a little frustrating for me because I don't have a ton of room, have some new food aversions, and certainly don't feel like cooking but still want a "meal" and not just snacks. I cooked today for the first time in days. DH is home so I made egg noodles with a lemon pepper fake cream sauce with some tofu. YUM. And now I'm in pain and will probably have to skip dinner again.

so up til today, appetite has been WAY absent.  then today, i woke up starving, juiced a quart of veggies, ate some fruit, and before noon, i made spaghetti squash w/ meatsauce!  ?!?

all i want is salads, grapefruit, citrus, and some meats on the salad.  cheese is out.  grains are out.  potatoes didn't treat me well last time.

and candy has entered the scene.  hubby has brought home a few bags of share size skittles to share w/ me and i love having sugar.  UGH.

juicing is the only thing that keeps me sane.  i love cucumber/lettuce/kale/carrot/celery juice- and woke up this morning CRAVING it.  now i need to restock my juice veggie supply!

but the worst thing is that i'm not just hungry.  i can make tasty treats, i can keep my fridge full, but i just find myself not wanting most things.  the spaghetti squash was a great find for me b/c i can just eat it w/ salt and butter, or w/ tomato sauce, or any herb/oil combo, and it satisfies but also digests well.  i'm a little worried about not eating enough, but baby seems to be growing fine, and i'm certainly not slowing down on weight gain!

my appetite skyrocketed yesterday. out of nowhere, i wanted to eat everything! i made raw vegan larabar balls that i stuck in the freezer, but i've been guiltily snacking on them today.

My appetite has been way down.   I eat mostly small meals or snacks.  DH even commented on it.  He is so used to me eating more than him these days.

Most things just don't sound good to me.  Lately my diet consists of veggies, apples, oranges, pineapple, yogurt and cereal.

I made some chewy ginger cookies the other day that have been a yummy treat.  Ginger 3 ways!

I have craved coffee.  I've been off of it since I found out I was pregnant, but this week it sounds so good.  I had a small latte and it was wonderful!

I have been thinking a lot about Girl Scout Cookies. They are my major weakness every year.  I am supporting a good cause after all :)   It must be too early, I haven't seen the girls stalking customers as they leave the grocery store.  Too Bad!  I could really go for some.

It's been too difficult for me to handle lugging bags through the crowded and steaming hot wet markets to buy food so i have a local lady who i hired for this. To give her a decent length of shift here i have her clean and chop up veggies and prep a few meals to leave in the fridge. Usually it's hummus, lentil soups and stuff like that. This week all i asked for was a massive apple crisp. smile.gif she went all out, we have the classic full-o-suger Martha Stewart crisp in the fridge now. Ooops!

hehe- this plus the girl scout cookie link below led me to confess my plans for making THESE as soon as i have the stamina!  (not now..... orngtongue.gif)

i did go out and buy the coconut, coconut oil (i was running low) and chocolate just to make these.  and figured i could freeze them so not everyone would eat them all immediately.

i think raw larabar balls are my favorite pregnancy addiction!  the recipes have shifted w/ each pregnancy, but i even have raw cacao beans on hand b/c i love and make these so often.  great way to smuggle in dates too!  if you needed to smuggle them.  yummy.gif

yes! this is my favorite way to eat dates. my hubby wouldn't touch a date with a 10 ft pole, so we're safe in the smuggling department. i made a ton of different types of balls with dehydrated fruits.

peach, date and cashew;

strawberry, blueberry & raspberry with dates;

apple, maca & date;

raisin, date, and oatmeal;

lemon & date. mmm!

now the word date doesn't make sense to me.

LOL!!!

This was awesome!

my husband steals all my dates.  and then says i shouldn't buy them b/c they're so addictive and expensive.  and i try and hint that he could just leave them for me....ROTFLMAO.gif

i do pretty much like medjool exclusively- they're the freshest and most delicious around here.

you've got the LaraBars beat!  i was a raw foodie when LaraBars came out and they had a tasting at my local small health food store, and i was hooked, but the quality has dropped and i don't like them as much anymore.  and i love MACA.  which has led to many jokes in our family- my husband gave out maca a few christmas's ago to the men in the family b/c he loved the energy and stamina from it, and got such odd responses that he's never given out another christmas present to my family!  but my sister recently conceived and said maca did play a role!  Sheepish.gif

totally had samoas for breakfast!  2 frozen ones.  so ridiculously delicious!

LOL HouseofPeace!

It's great to hear others craving citrus!  I keep buying OJ and oranges, and consuming them in huge quantities.  I need another shelf in my fridge to hold all the OJ I want to drink!

Oh wow, and now I really need to get out my juicer. I keep thinking I want to eat parsley.  I'm totally going to make some fresh carrot juice with parsley in it today!

My guilty confessions:

  • Cookie cravings galore.
  • I've gone from originally vegan to eating and loving cheese lately (some cheeses, others seem gross).
  • I also have been eating chicken here and there, but it doesn't seem to be satisfying the craving or doing anything for me. I think I'm really craving red meat, but I just can't do it.

This last craving has me considering the whole Postpartum Placenta Meal thing. grossedout.gif Not sure if I'll be able to get over the grossness of the idea, though!!   I bought some ground turkey for postpartum,  and I'm hoping that will do the trick!

Chocolate milk made with organic raw milk, and nesquik, lol what a contradictory combo...... I seriously try to limit myself to one glass a week, but oh man, it's so good. =0)  That and oranges, sometimes 2 a day, which I don't consider a guilty treat at all, but I crave them so badly I figured I'd add them.

Oh man that sounds so tasty right now!  I had 2 tbs of nutella with a banana last night- soooooo yummy! I have a bad sweet tooth and am trying to hard to stay away from processed sugar these last few weeks so baby os only gaining from good healthy things but it is hard (especially with DDs birthday last weekend and mine coming up Feb 4th).

I have been craving chocolate milk this week too!  It counts as breakfast right?

A neighbor dropped off a Chocolove dark chocolate bar with almonds and sea salt.  I tried to eat a part of it and save some for later...tried is the key word.  It only lasted two hours before the whole bar was gone  :)

i know- right?  but my sweet/carb cravings had increased.  it's not nice.  i'm trying to stick to citrus, and homemade sorbet (mango, lime juice, honey and a hint of vanilla), and minimal cookies.  but i stop  and think if i just make another batch of almond flour cookies it won't be that bad......  ACK!
