Nursing Mamas TTC - July! - Page 3

I am going to join you girls here :)  I have 3 children and we are TTC our 4th.  I am still nursing my 19mo old and haven't had a post partum AF yest.  It usually returns arounf 20-21mo when I am nursing so either Aug or Sept unless i catch that first pp egg.  We were on the fence about having another but we just don't feel like our family is complete so we are going to do another.  I am hoping for a girl and I am taking some calcium magnesium supplements and will be avoiding DTD the day before or day of O.  My daughter was a 3 day cut off so i am hoping ot do that again once my cycle returns.  If we end up with a boy of course he would be a blessing tot and obviously meant to be :)

Welcome jen&james!  I've added you to the list.

Boy this thread is quiet!  Is everyone too busy BDing to post??  More likely too busy with summer vacation, I imagine.

Nada to report here.  SItting at 3 or 4 DPO and really trying not to think about it because DH and I only BD'd once in the right time frame for this cycle so the chances of a BFP are pretty darn slim.  I've been kind of crampy, and know it's ridiculous to think it's any type of symptom this early on.  Also, with DS my nipples got really dark (like I stepped out of the shower one morning and went "what the...??") even before AF was late, and nothing of the sort so far...anyway.  As I said, Nada to report.

Tear78 - Congratulations to you and your husband on your BFP! Sending lots and lots of sticky vibes your way!

Nstewart - I'm also 4DPO. Do you test early or wait for AF to be late?

Hi everyone!  It's so great to find a group who share this frustrating experience together!  =-)  My DS is 9 months and 1 week, and I've been obsessing since he was 4 months about wanting to get pregnant, but no AF until 2 days ago.  WOO HOOO!!  Of course, I was instantly calculating when I might ovulate...and even when my due date would be if I got a BFP.  lol  I am feeling very frustrated though this morning as it seems that after 2 days of bleeding it has stopped.  Mine normally lasts 6-7 days.   Has anyone ever experienced this?  Do you think I will still ovulate?  When my baby turned 9 months I cut down from 4 nursing sessions during the day and 1 at night to just 3 during the day & still 1 at night so I assume that is what brought AF on.  I'm so disappointed to see AF stop (never thought I'd say that - ever!), and I just don't know what to expect!  Thanks in advance!  I guess this means that I am Waiting to Ovulate

Congratulations Tear, another pregnant mama from our old DDC. may this be a very sticky bean and that you have a smoother time at the end this time. You've been through so much you deserve an easy pregnancy and smooth birth.

NewMama, my DS2 is 10 months old. I got AF back at 6 months and my cycles are still a bit all over the place. Before motherhood I had a very reliable cycle of 27.5 days with a 3.5 day AF. This time postpartum I've had a 2 day AF followed next cycle by a 6 day AF. I'm not back to a regular pattern yet. It may just take a few cycles for your body to figure it out again. I totally get the obsession though, as I've checked due dates every cycle so far. I have my hands full with a just turned 2 year old (last month) and a 10 month old, but I've got baby fever so bad that I just long to be pregnant again.

I'm still waiting to O, and have been busy with a sick baby and a teething toddler for the last few days. I hope to O at the end of this week, but so far the only thing that would indicate it is on its way is the increase in my libido. No CM yet and my temps are pretty much flat right now. I'm trying to remember to take extra B6 everyday to increase my luteal phase after last month.

looking forward to seeing more BFPs this month.

Thanks Lynann.  It is reassuring to know that I am not the only who with a baby who longs so desperately to be pregnant again.  My DH just doesn't understand that longing.  While your cycles are all over the place do you temp or use OPK's?  I just started temping this morning and I am considering ordering OPK's on amazon.  Why oh why can't this all be more cut and dry?!?!  AHHHHH

Is B6 something I should be taking?  I take a prenatal, folic acid and a super B complex Will these suffice?

Hope your sick lil one is not wearing you out too much!

NewMama I take the B6 because last month AF showed at only 7DPO. B6 helps to extend the luteal phase by a few days. I chart my temps and also watch for fertile CM. I have charts on 3 different sights, and they all confirmed O on the same day last cycle. It was my first month back at charting.

I only had 6 months between pregnancies last time, but then I wasn't still breast feeding DS1. I turn 40 in 4 weeks and I know that my age is part of why I'm so driven to get pregnant quickly. I want to have a few more children before I get too old and loose my fertility for good.

I currently take a Prenatal, B6, B12, DHA, Vit C, once I get pregnant I'll add Floradix to that as I have low grade anemia which gets worse when pregnant, and the Floradix helps with that.

Hi everyone, I thought I would pop in :)

I'm in the same place as a few of you; nursing my 20mo and waiting to get my first PPAF.  It's getting so frustrating! We were lucky enough to have a "surprise" pregnancy with my son, so this is the first time that I have been really wanting, hoping, waiting, to get preg.  I've been feeling pretty down on myself lately, so hopefully this thread can help cheer me up!

I have been playing with the idea of trying to cut down on nursing sessions, and tried putting some boundaries on nursing, and had kept the nursing at about 6-7 times in a 24 hour period....I mostly just tried to cut out or limit the boredom sessions.  Then DS got sick and he is nursing ALL the time again.  I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the nursing lately, so I'm leaning toward trying to cut down on the sessions again...totally can't see completely weaning though.

How long before making changes in nursing patterns could I see AF return? I have had CM for some time now, but nothing that looks particularly fertile...Sigh!

Please add me to waiting to O.  And I'm sure my next post will be a bit more cheery! Just having a rough day.  :(

I had my first PPAF start on the 2nd. I am still nursing my 13.5 month old. I felt some sharp twinges on my right a few days back but opk has been negative since CD12 or so. I'm continuing to test and will cross my fingers that AF doesn't show in August. Hopefully my cycles regulate quickly and aren't wonky for a few months pp.

We are TTC number 4, our second together. (We each brought one child to the relationship.) I feel my window is narrow as he didn't want to have babies after 40 and his birthday was in March. There were no issues conceiving any of our children so I am hoping this baby is just as easy.

Welcome, jen&james, Brogansmamma and Newmama!

Tear78, congrats on your BFP! Praying all goes well with this pregnancy!

Lynann, glad to know I'm not the only one who checks due dates when I'm not pregnant! I also calculate how old DS will be...

Hope some  more of you have BFPs to share soon!

AFM, AF arrived last Thursday, so I had a barely 8 day LP, possibly, on a crazy long cycle. Oh well, hopefully this month things will be totally normal and we'll have a better shot at timing! Back to waiting to O.

I am planning to register for a half-marathon on October 21st. I've done several of these in the past, but nothing that long since having my son. I figure it will be a good distraction if I don't get pregnant soon, and unless I get pregnant this cycle, I will probably have a good enough mileage base to run while (hopefully) pg. Does anyone else worry about TTC when making travel/other plans? My DH has a business trip to Italy scheduled for next May, so if I am not 8 months pregnant/1 month postpartum, we will go with him! I hope we have a baby, but it's a nice consolation prize to have that in mind...

Tear78 - congrats! :)

I'm not kidding I had yet another person ask me why on Earth I'm still nursing dd. We were talking about how dh and I  would like to have more kids and I was telling her about my crazy hormones...probably because of bf. She was like - "Whaaaaaat????? You're still bf her????? Why????? Why????? She is 2.5 for god's sake. 2.5!!!!!!!! 2.5!!!!!!!" She kept saying that over and over. Uhm I know how old dd is. I told her she isn't planning on stopping and neither am I. Lately I've been feeling like I don't even want to explain.

Irritating!  I would turn it around on a person like that.  "Absolutely.  There are wonderful health and emotional benefits from continuing to breastfeed.  Everyone should do it.  You didn't do it?  Really?  That's too bad."

Please move me to  Waiting to O.  4 months TTC #5.  (My nursling is still 14 mos.)

AF arrived 4 days ago.  This was my shortest cycle ever...25 days.  I had a 12 day LP though, so that's not too bad, right?  I keep thinking about using progesterone cream again like I did ttc #3.  This month will be a super long shot at conceiving.  In 2 days we leave on a 2 week RV trip.  I don't think we'll have even one chance or feel like BDing.  I just hate to lose any chances since I'm 39 and impatient!

Tear78 - CONGRATS!!! I am sending you super duper sticky vibes with all of my might! dust.gif

Welcome to the new-to-the-thread ladies!

NewMama2BBBoy - how do you get away with nursing so infrequently? Oh man, I think my boobs would explode (and my DS would have a snit fit!). Most nights we're still nursing at least 4-5 times, and anywhere from 5-10 times during the day.

That said, DS started asking for a lot more solid foods in the last two weeks, and last night he slept for 6.5 hours straight and only nursed twice from 4:15am til I woke him up at 7:40am to go to daycare. I wonder if that pattern will continue. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven with 6.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep!!

CD12 for me here, another week til I expect anything interesting to happen. So for now I sit and twiddle my thumbs smile.gif

Hi everyone, we're updated to here!

SandyLoam, I haven't decided about testing early or waiting yet...earlier this cycle (this is my first actually TTC) I had decided to wait until day 27 or 28.  Now that I am in the TWW, however, I am so, so tempted to test earlier!  But given that DH and I only BD's once during my fertile period I kindof feel like it'll be a waste of money and just sad to reaffirm what I already suspect, KWIM?  What about you?

Welcome NewMamma!  My first few cycles were all over the place and even more recently (I'm on about my 8th or 9th PP cycle) I've had O dates as late as day 17, and luteal phases as short as 7 days.  Seems to depend on how much DS is nursing and how much rest I am getting.  Less nursing and more rest = "better" cycles.

Oh, and I'm another DD checker.  This month it would be April 6.  And I also checked the baby centre horoscope thing to see what an Aries would be like in a Taurus mamma, Cancer daddy, and Leo big brother family.  Maybe not conceiving this cycle wouldn't be so bad, a Taurus might be easier (no offence to any Aries, my DS is already so active I think I am really hoping for a mellow DC this go-round!)

Boomer78, I hear ya.  My explanation is usually "I like it, DS likes it, so why stop?"  Although people usually know better than to comment on my parenting choices with me, as they're sure to get an earful!  winky.gif

AFM, still hanging out in the boring part of the 2WW.  To early to even consider testing!

Well, I'm glad that passed! Sorry to introduce myself in such a "woe is me" way.  I for sure either ate something funny, or have wonky hormones for some reason.

Anyway, what have you all done (if anything) to help encourage your fertility return (besides cutting down on nursing)? I know some people have done the B vitamins; I read that eating things like liver would be good for overall health.  I finally got up enough courage to make the liver that has been hiding in my freezer for weeks....it was awful! But I feel oddly better.....

And good luck to everyone in the 2ww!

I love that I'm not the only one checking on DD's for an baby that's yet to be conceived!  =-)  This makes me feel so much better!

LivingSky my DS wakes up once each night (sometimes twice) so he nurses then and again when he wakes up in the morning, then in the middle of the afternoon and again before bed.  He LOVES solids and he'll eat anything that doesn't eat him first so he eats breakfast, lunch and dinner!  If I offered him the breast every 10 minutes, no doubt that he'd take it, but he is very satisfied with purees or any soft finger foods he can get his hands on.  I plan to wean when he turns one and since I don't want to quit cold turkey, I cut back on 1 nursing session when he turned 9 months.  He did great.  1 week after cutting it out my first PP AF arrived.  6.5 hours of sleep feels amazing doesn't it?!  If only you could could on it happening every night, wouldn't that be great?!

nstewart which method(s) do you rely on to know when you O?  I've started temping and I'm thinking of ordering some OPK's, too.

BabySmurf, just 1 week after combining 2 nursing sessions into 1 I got my first PPAF.  My doctor advised against Vitex though taking it was very, very tempting as soooo many women have had great luck with it.  Good luck!

Thanks for you ideas on how to reply to the annoying nursing questions. :)  We do a lot of things different from other families so there is always something that is being questioned directed towards us. Oh well... :)

I have tried B complex and Vitex. Neither seemed to have helped. I acutally got pregnant the only month when I didn't take anything at all and wasn't even ttc (miscarried though).

my 19mo old is only nursing 4-5 times in 24hrs and still no PPAF.  I am thinking about trying soy isoflavones or just taking MACA  I just want it to return so I can really get to TTC.  I am 36 and this is our last and I am not getting any younger :)
