Postpartum Anxiety Prevention

Thread Starter

Yesterday was a rough day. Tried to get to my MW apt. and couldn't--long story--and went through the whole getting kids, me and baby ready for something after lying-in for almost two weeks. Very emotional and then at night the anxiety hit. I remember this from my last postpartum days that between 2-8 weeks I had some bouts of anxiety.

Anyone else dealing with this and suggestions for prevention?

So far, this is what I'm thinking~

Sleep

Oatstraw Tea

and for me--monitoring my thyroid well during first 6months

I know there was a thread here a few weeks ago on this topic but I could not find the thread.

I experienced similar experiences with past pregnancies.  I'm more of a holistic mama, so I looked to natural remedies for support.  What worked for me was emotional counseling, healthy eating, doing things for me - I took a class online, and natural remedies of flower essences, essential oils, and herbs.

I use herbs too.  Motherwort tincture for emotional/hormonal stuff,  valerian tincture and catnip tea to help to help relax and sleep.  They really do help.  There are other tea recipes and herb suggestions in Aviva Romm's Natural Health after Childbirth that I found really helpful last time.  Getting out to walk in the sunshine helped me, also extra B vitamins in addition to still taking Floradix and my prenatal vitamins.  Postpardum is so overwhelming for me, I sort of dread it, but I feel like I have more of a plan in place than I did last time. Be kind to yourself, get all the help you can, whether you have to ask and beg or just take someone up on an offer.  Hugs, I know it's rough!
