I see a lot of talk about the Brewer's Diet so I finally looked it up today. Good lord, I do not think I could eat all that food in a day and if I did I would probably gain 50 pounds during my pregnancy!
That much weight gain can not be healthy (unless you were under weight to start with). Who has done this diet in previous pregnancies? Did you have more weight gain than you did without being on the diet? Does he encourage a higher weight gain? Maybe I am missing something?
I agree with the no refined sugars/flours part of it....just empty calories. That makes logical sense no matter what else you are eating. I was a little surprised that they only recommend 2 servings of vegetables a day. Isn't that less than the recommended daily amount for adults?
I can't imagine where I would squeeze in 4 servings of dairy and 80-100 grams of protein daily. I am truly curious about this. It seems a lot of people are benefiting from following this plan. I feel like I eat quiet a bit and my weight seems to be on track (7 pounds gained at 17 weeks) but I feel like I would be just packing on extra pounds if I added on so much additional food.
Thoughts?? I have not actually read his book so I guess that would explain why I don't know how this all works.
