post baby birth control? « Back to Group Discussions

it might feel a little too soon to start talking about this, but what are you doing for birth control when its time to get back to it?  We are thinking of having a vasectomy, don't know too much about it, but it seems like a god option for us.  I would look into an IUD but I had one before and it didn't agree with me.  Although, I have heard that is because you are only supposed to have one if you've had children (would have been nice if the doctor had told me that when I was 23!)

I have a hard time with permanent birth control even though I don't want to even think about having to prepare for another c-section ever again and I seem to be trending breech presentation. My hcp offers essure which seems interesting. I have been non-ovulatory most of my life unless medicated so it seems like "overkill".

We'll probably use condoms. I realize this makes me a repressed person or something, but frankly having cold goo drip out of me all night and go through to the mattress pad is enough to make me not want to have sex at all.

We're almost positive that we're going to stop with one, but we're not willing to do anything permanent yet, so I'm going to get an IUD placed at my 6-week checkup. I'm going copper, since I've done my time with hormonal BCP and have already taken it long enough to get the ovarian and breast cancer prevention benefits out of it, and the thought of peeing out hormones every month into the downstream water supply skeeves me out.

I agree!! The gunk is not a pleasant feeling at all.  We practice pull-out and keeping track of my cycle for in between children birth control.  It has worked so far!  When we are done having children, DH will get a vasectomy.

We practice NFP (for religious reasons), and have had good experiences with breastfeeding amenorrhea and natural child spacing, which is what we'll go back to after the baby is born.

My DH and I are NFP teacher's, so of course that's the route we take :-) Love it! And it has worked great for us.

And yes!....we want this many kids, lol! We use NFP to space (sympto-thermal). I get my fertility back super fast : )
