Bajingo Moms and Babies in the Summer Sun - 2012 - Page 2

I would distract him with a fun toy at diaper changes.  I have to do that anyway because my kid hates getting changed now and flips all around.  Fun... let me tell you.  He has found his penis but doesn't go for it that often I think because I always fill his hands with new toys once we hit the changing table.

Caly: limiting breastmilk seems weird to me.  I am not saying it's wrong but I would get someone other than an ER doctors advice.  While some of them mean well, they aren't experts in breastfeeding kwim?  I would definatly check with a lactation consultant or a LLL leader.

AFU: as I was typing this wolverine stuck a live beetle in his mouth, ha!  This kid seriously is into everything.  He started cackling and it is so funny.  He sounds like he is grunting.  He now has so many different laughs.

You guys are cracking me up with this penis tugging discussion (especially birdie's DH) Uhm, yay, it's a boy! Can't wait to join the sausage fest :)

wave.gifmeander! Was thinking of you recently. You and Alaric are both adorable and he does look like you! Go gingers!

I can't believe so many of you have 1+ year olds! Happy birthdays, little ones!

Yeah, I think it's weird to limit nursing. too. The doctor we saw was a pediatrician at the children's hospital, but still. We're seeing a lactation consultant again in about an hour, so will double-check with her.

Aww, thanks birdie! I made her a lobster-shaped cake since we're in Maine, with strawberries instead of red dye, and she wolfed it down. It was hilarious and so cute. I can't believe she's one year old! luxlove.gif Our other big news is that I had a positive pregnancy test on Friday. bigeyes.gif Oh please stick, little baby miracle! love.gif

Tear, I congratulated you on the other thread, but another one won't hurt!! CONGRATS! Lots of sticky vibes coming your way!

Kayden had an awesome birthday and we made this cake: http://www.smokinhotmom.com/2011/06/healthy-vanilla-bean-cake-dairy-free-gluten-free-sugar-free-grain-free/ with no icing or anything. I made it with berries for the adults and without berries for Kayden. He thought it was the best thing EVER. So I've made the recipes into muffins, since it has no refined sugar in it, no gluten, and no dairy, plus tons of good protein, I figure they're good for him to have as snacks at daycare. And it keeps him entertained for a while wink1.gif

I'll post birthday pics when I get home!

Yay, Kayden pics always put me in a good mood, he's such a happy guy! :)

Hi everyone! DH took Cara for a walk, so I've got two free hands for a few minutes!

We're doing pretty well. Our meeting with the LC was very helpful. They're such a great resource. This is the third time I've seen them since she was born--I'm so glad they're only 5 minutes from my house! I breastfed all day with no pain for the first time yesterday (Day 21), and things are going well so far today. Cara has been opening much wider when she latches, and I've found that making sure her head and my breast are level is essential. I think she has a hard time handling my let-downs, though. She's been really fussy at the breast. Otherwise, she's in great shape.

I am still trying to figure out how taking care of a baby is going to fit into our daily lives. I swear, we do nothing by baby care 24/7. There is no time for laundry or dishes or any of that. Does this get easier?

Sorry for the lack of personals! I promise I will resume writing them at some point!

It gets easier...

then it gets harder lol.  that's how it was for me anyhow.  It got easier when I got into the swing of things and wolerine was into looking at things and toys.  He would just lay on the floor with a toy and be content while I did some things around the house.  Now it's super hard because he is crawling (fast!) and pulling up on stuff, pulling stuff down, getting into everything!  He won't stand for being put in the pack n play or his jumper or anything because he wants to be with me touching me but able to move on his own.  I hope it gets easier again or I will never clean again!  Anyway you will get into the swing of your new life don't worry. What helped me is to lower my expectations of pretty much everything.  I want to get laundry done one day but the only thing I get to is putting the diapers in the wash for the prerince.  No problem:  I did SOMETHING.  I will get to the rest of the steps when I can.  Litle guy's happyness and rest etc is more important.  I will get time when I can...

AFU:  Life is pretty hectic.  wolverines 6th tooth finally popped through after a month of teething pain and he is much happier now.  He is in the stranger danger phase which I sorta hate but I know it is totally normal and a good sign that he is developing bonds and such.  He is eating normal food like a madman and it is so fun watching him try new things!

Yep, this!

It got easier once we figured out what we were doing, nursing settled into a routine, etc. Then just as tanks aid, it got harder when K started moving more and needing more to keep his attention.

My newest solution is to open my kitchen cupboard that ahs the baby-safe stuff in it and let him pull everything out and bang stuff around on the floor. That will usually buy me half an hour to do something!

yes! You figure out a routine and then she changes. Lately I've found that she has a few staple toys that will hold her attention for a long time, like her lego table, her musical car, and a bag of board books. I anticipate this is probably a cycle: figure it out, adapt, easier, harder. But I see my niece who is now almost 6, and she is so independent some of the time, and my almost 2-year old niece who is much more stable on her feet and can be safe sitting in a booster chair without being strapped in and will build with megabloks for a long time. Eventually I think it probably just gets easier in some ways.

Well, I had promised pictures of Kayden a week or more ago and completely fell through, so here they are -better late than never! From his birthday first:

Smiling for the camera:

Lounging in his new Cars chair:

In his new Batman shirt! Yes, his dad and I are both geeks smile.gif

"I want THAT cake!"

The muffin he actually got - dairy free gluten free refined sugar free. He loves them so much I've started making them weekly and freezing them!
