neti pot and pain

I'm pretty good at using my neti pot but I took about 6 weeks off due to travel. I just used it again yesterday and let me tell you it was SO PAINFUL!!! I put just a sprinkle of sea salt too instead of my normal 1/4 tsp. It burned so bad I mean so bad. Made my eyes water and I could not continue doing it. I tried again in the morning with even less salt and it still really burned. I could feel so much  pressure in my head too. What could be going on?

I have intense pressure headaches lately a little congestion/allergies but not bad.  I do notice I'm swallowing a lot of mucus lately.

Using too little salt is aggravating to your sinuses because it is not balanced with your body's blood pH.  You should use 1/4 teaspoon or more- depending on how large your neti pot is.  I use Baraka's neti pot and I put 1/2 teaspoon in mine and a full teaspoon when I have bad inflammation. Check out this blog to learn more- http://www.sinussupport.com/reduce-nasal-inflamation/

Use your pot again with the right amount of salt and I bet you it won't burn!!

Intersting. I will try but it's almost like they're raw inside. Lets hope it works!
