While pregnant with my son a few years ago, I had a reaction to eating any red meat. I would get nauseous with radiating mid back pain. Like my stomach was distended and pressing on my spine. I would vomit a few times and the pain would slowly subside. It only happened a few times before I figured out the trigger.
Now, I am 28 weeks pregnant and haven't eaten any red meat for fear of this happening again.
Three weeks ago, I had a severe episode that lasted over 24 hours, from start to finish. Vomiting and severe pain lasted about 12 hours. I hadn't eaten any red meat. I had cereal for breakfast, pbj for lunch and some popcorn. I attributed it to the popcorn, which I know can be hard to digest.
I had another episode last night. It lasted only five hours, start to finish, but was severe the entire time. The only trigger I can determine would be corn.
I called my doctor who said it didn't sound digestive, or like kidney/gall bladder and that there was nothing that could be done.
The pain is debilitating, I quickly become covered head to toe in sweat, I shake severely (almost to the point of convulsing), and I have passed out breifly during each episode. My stomach is tender to the touch. It feels as if I've run out of room for my organs and the baby. The back pain is the worst part. It hurts worse than my natural unmedicated childbirth did.
Any insight? I'm desperate for answers.
