Midwife search

Hello!  My husband and I are not currently expecting, but the possibility will arise soon enough as my youngest begins to wean.  If we have any more children, we would like to deliver at home.  We live in King George, VA.  Anyone know of any midwives still attending homebirths here?  My understanding is that one just stopped and the only other one I have heard of is located south of Richmond (1.5 hours away) and you have to go to her for all of your appointments.

I would ask other like-minded mamas in your area who they went with. They can give you their info and an honest opinion about the services they received. :)

Yeah, I did.  Actually, our last one, #6, was born at home.  However, the midwife who delivered her (well, just missed delivering her :) )  no longer offers homebirth services.  There is one other that I have heard of who is 1.5 hours away and one 2 hours away.  I am hoping someone I don't know knows something I don't know.  If that is as clear as mud.  ;)  Just hoping and praying a midwife crops up in my area in the near future.  There is certainly a need.  With my midwife missing the birth by a few minutes and these other midwives living just as far or farther away, honestly, if a new midwife does not crop up in the area, I think we will have to go back to an OB who was "ok" with one of the other births.  I hate that idea, but what other choice do I have when there are no midwives in the area?  It's sad.
