9:07 am at home and weighs 8# 4 oz. and 20 inches long
Here is our birth story... July 5th I had a lot of contractions- sometimes regular but mostly not. They would get stronger whenever I got up to do anything- so I called my midwife to see what she thought. No sense in getting too worn out was her reply. So I just kind of spent the day laying low. That evening DH finally installed a window a/c (cause we are tough... or stupid... or cheap and don't have a/c) in our bedroom. When I went to bed it was sooo lovely! Until I started waking up all the time from contractions. About 3:30 I woke up to them 5 minutes apart and they were rather intense from that point on. We called our midwife at 3:50 am. We decided to go outside and wait and see.... So much cooler outside than in the rest of our sauna like home! By about 5:30 they were 3 minutes apart and very intense. We called in our friend to come get the children at 6, she had them out of the house by 7- which was right when the midwives got to our house. The whole 3 hours outside I just sat in a lawn chair and watched DH nest by doing dumb stuff like weed eating at 5:30 in the morning :) I was kind of afraid to get up and make things go any faster... So at about 7:20 I went inside and after listening to the heart and checking position and using the bathroom (we only have one and it is downstairs) we headed up to our bedroom. That much change of position really got things going- so I had them check me and there was a small cervical lip that had to be held- but I was fully dilated by 8 am. At this point I was worn out and in pain and really wanted to give up but I couldn't push. I just wasn't ready. My water finally broke on its own at 8:30- which was actually a relief! I finally started pushing about 9:00 and Stefani was born into her daddy's hands at 9:07. Now I didn't actually push her out for 7 minutes- about 3 of those were spent pushing uh other 'stuff' out :) Then she just came right out! DH and I were amazed- we had never really watched a babe come out- so I was happy to be on the birth stool! About 15 minutes later the placenta came while I nursed Stefani. After about an hour of nursing we took a bath and then fell asleep all cozy in bed for about 4 hours.. The kids came home about 7 last night and the 3 oldest were amazed by their little sister. The 4th just wanted to pick at her- so we will have to watch that. Then last night she slept for a good 7 hour stretch too! I am sore about everywhere but have been taking calcium and magnesium and I really think that that is helping- especially with my cramping.
sorry the pic is so big on the background... not sure why...
