July 6th is the day for June DDC babies :)
Hadley (no middle name yet!) was born this morning at 9:14am. 8lbs 6oz 20"
Yesterday night I had a few painful contractions and some constant cramping in my lower back and thighs, but I wasn't ready to get excited and think it was the real deal. I slept like normal overnight, until 4:30am. I got up to pee and in bed I had one painful contraction and then 10 minutes later another. During that second contraction, I felt a trickle and got out of bed while my water leaked out all over the floor. I woke up my husband and said it was Baby Day! He tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't. We both did some last minute birth prep and I called the midwife and my mom to come. Contractions were quite painful from the start, but not super painful and not lasting long. It was back labor, so I had counter pressure on my back fairly early on. Around 8am, contractions were about 3 minutes apart and I asked my midwife when it would be all done. I might have even been starting transition, but that's when the contractions starting lasting longer and getting a lot more painful. I was checked at 8:15 and was at 7cm. I then picked out the birth time of 9:04am. I started feeling pushy a little before 9, but it could have just been the pressure. I ended up starting real pushing on my hands and knees at 9:06am and she was born at 9:14am. I felt like it was almost nonstop pushing that whole time, but my midwife said I pushed her out nice and slow. No stitches this time. My 4 year old had said he wanted to catch, but he ended up changing his mind and just watching. When we were all sitting around an hour later he said, "Mama, I didn't know she was going to come out of your butt!" Gave us all a good chuckle. Both my 4 year old and my 2 year old love the new baby and we are all settling in nicely. I just love homebirth, I'm so thankful I am able to have them.
