Oh this is even more reason to use it for a middle name. I had no idea what it meant and I am loving the meaning..

I love seeing all the names!! Can't wait to see the baby faces to go along with them! I still feel like I know all the babies from my other DDCs.
I have had the toughest time this go round! Dh loves Angus, but he just doesn't feel like Angus. :/
But I woke up last week wondering how Atlas was doing, so I think he finally told me what his name is meant to be!post #266 of 38012/12/12 at 7:12pmThoughts on Evelyn, Eleni, or Tarin for a girl? DH has a nice, sturdy, and plain last name... so we are thinking we could do something with a little flair to it.

I had an aunt named Evelyn. It's a lovely name - but it's getting VERY popular. Probably won't be the next Isabelle/Isabella, but might be the next Olivia. I like Elena (I have a close friend named Elena) but I haven't heard Eleni before. How would you pronounce it?

That's what I was thinking too.I love love love Evelyn and it's on our "list" too though it's more likely to be a contender for middle name then first (if we're having a girl) but I do agree that it's gaining in popularity too, if that matters to you.

Eleni was on my short-list, but I think my favorite author already thinks I'm stalkerish. My first name is very similar to the name of one of her character's and my daughter's name sounds exactly like the nickname for the daughter of that character. Eleni is the name of another character in her books. XD Yeah...
post #275 of 38012/13/12 at 6:25pmThanks for all the feedback!
We have both liked Evelyn for quite a while, but I am thinking it would maybe? be slightly too common? I already know one toddler with the name.....
Eleni is pronounced "Eh-len-ee". It is Greek and we are not, but it has special meaning to us. Do you think it is hard to figure out how to pronounce? I hadn't thought of that....

I don't think it's too hard. My name is Cari pronounced Carrie. Sometimes people say it right, sometimes they say Car-ee but it doesn't bother me. So she might get Elaine-ee (that's how I was thinking it was pronounced) but probably as often as not someone would assume correctly.. It's not like you're spelling it Ellenhei or something ridiculous

Quote:Renee is at the top of our list, as my husband's grandfather's name is Rene.
HOWEVER: to accent or not to accent? I feel like Renee is common enough that people know how to pronounce it even without the accent mark on the second of three Es, but I don't want to saddle my child with an accent that may cause havoc in databases that can't handle special fonts. I'm a fan of diacritical marks in general.

I have several, but going to narrow it down to two names, then let DD pick.
Emmerson MaKenzie Lane
Brooklynn MaKenzie Lane
Harlow MaKenzie Lane
Aubree MaKenzie Lane.
Lane is my mothers, grandmother's, and my middle name. Mom is very happy I am going to carry it on.post #280 of 38012/15/12 at 3:55pm- SlimP
