I started thinking about the name "Ione" again last night for this baby if it's a girl. Perhaps Ione Neige or Ione Snow. Any thoughts?

InfiniJess, I think I like Jasper Dean the best - JD or Jazz would be cute nicknames.

It looks like DH is coming around (completely on his own) to my preferred boy nickname.  :)

I meant to say before, Chapsie, you must not be Filipina!  I agree in general, in the dominant culture of the US and Canada anyway, that nicknames usually arise organically.  But the majority of Filipinos IME (not just DH's family) have "official" nicknames that are more-or-less picked out before birth and used throughout life.  (Like I'm pretty sure Jinkee (Geraldine) Pacquiao officially ran for office on that name and everything.)  I posit it as a reaction to colonization, but that's a whole thesis, LOL.

buko, it just goes to show that sometimes the best naming tactic (when dealing with an ornery husband) is patience!

Yes!  And I have a notoriously hard time holding my tongue, but I knew it was the best strategy.

buko, I thought my favorite name was off the table for months. We hit a stalemate and finally played a game recently where we each wrote down our three favorite and went from there. I didn't bother writing down my favorite because I thought it was a no-go....it was on HIS list! lol...

I feel like I have so much catching up... what was I thinking joining a DDC in my last month?

We are having a girl and naming her Eilidh Ruth.  (pronounced aye-lee for those of you who haven't seen it before).  I've loved the name for years and I was really surprised when DH took to it immediately despite the "odd" spelling.

I cannot stop flip flopping. We're down to either Isaac or Felix and every day I have a different preference. I think over all I've been leaning more toward Felix, but DP prefers Isaac, and since the middle name was 100% my choice, maybe I should just go with his preference for the first name? I don't know...

Which has more of a ring to it?

Felix Lysander

Isaac Lysander

Sami, I say wait until you meet him and you'll know. :-)

FWIW (my 2cents lol) I like Isaac as a name better then Felix, BUT the long "I" sound at the beginning of both Isaac and Lysander is a bit overwhelming for me, so I think with those pairings, I prefer Felix. But, like I said, that's just my humble opinion wink1.gif

Yeah, I think we'll do that. I've been afraid of waiting to meet the baby to pick a name because I'm so indecisive and I don't want to have a nameless baby for too long. One time it took me a week to name a cat and by the time I came up with a name I was so used to calling her "kitty" that it just kind of stuck. Obviously, a baby is not the same thing as a cat. But anyway, I think since it's narrowed down to two names it won't be too hard. :)

My DH is an Isaac, so I am very fond of that name.  :)

So... the name that we've been settled on for weeks is now up in the air again!  I asked my husband "so you still like the baby's name, right?" and he said "it's ok."

haha.  So... I'll ask for opinions here. :)

My older kids are Judah and Galilee (nicname Lilee) (Bible place names) and I'm not married to the "theme" but I do like unusual-ish names that are somewhat reflective of our Christian faith.

We were going to name this one (a girl) Shiloh Lark.

We also like Magdalen Renee (nicname Maggie)

If we were going to depart from our "theme," I was thinking of using a Swedish name (my name is Scandinavian).  We really like Dagny and Tindra.

Any thoughts?

I like all of those.  It occurs to me that if Dagny is pronounced as I assume, she might get a lot of "Daphne?"s, though.

I like Magdalen Renee...

How do you pronounce Dagny?

Sami, I like both Isaac and Felix, they're both snappy names that go well with Lysander, but I think Felix is a bit more unusual, so that's my first choice.

Chapsie, I prefer Shiloh to Magdalene as it sounds more feminine and soft. I have friends whose family all have biblical names and Naomi and Simone have really stood the test of time. Your Scandinavian names are nice too, I especially like Tindra for it's meanings.

I prefer Shiloh, but all your names are great names.  (I really like the name Galilee!)

I really like the name Tindra but I read on another name thread that in Sweden it has an unfortunate association with exotic dancers?  I hope I'm wrong about that, but I was in Ikea a few weeks ago and they have candles named (appropriately) Tindra and that was what popped into my head immediately.
