Chrisa: Saying prayers for baby to stay in and cook longer - and for him/her to be healthy and strong when the arrival happens!! A friend of mine who was due a day before me had her twin baby boys last night!

I just got home from Joanne's Fabric. They have all their Autumn/Thanksgiving stuff out!!!! Totally freaked me out - bc I don't plan to need to decorate for Fall until AFTER baby comes!! I know they are WAY off in their seasons - but still makes you think - these babies aren't really all that far off!!

Chrisa, Hope baby stays put for a while!  Keeping you in my thoughts.

My parents are on their way here for visit.  We'll spend a few days with them and then they are going to stay with DS while DH and I take a trip down to North Carolina.  We're going to go to the Biltmore and then to the civil rights musem in Greensboro.  I'm really excited.  Those are two places we've wanted to go for a while but haven't wanted to take DS to (DS on historic house tours is kinda stressful and not so fun, and we feel like the civil rights musem's subject matter is not appropriate for a 3 year old).  We didn't have a real honeymoon and DS was born a few months after we were married so this almost feels like we are finally getting our honeymoon four years later!  It'll probably be another 3.5-4 years before we'd feel comfortable leaving baby #2 to take a trip like this again.  Also given the stress of the past week, I think the timing is perfect!  A day or so after we get back, if things go well, they are going to try to take DS for an overnight trip too.  We're thinking this will probably be preparation for him in terms of if he has to spend a night or two without us when I'm in labor/after the baby is born.

Now I just have to finish getting this house clean and organized before my parents get here!  We, or I should say DH still has boxes that are still unpacked from when we moved into this apartment a year and a half ago.  My big nesting priority has really been getting rid of the boxes and getting everything around here organized well before this baby gets here.  Each room/closet that I've finished makes me feel so good!

SO behind here but wanted to say, Chrisa, I hope the baby i staying put. Please update when you can.

Thanks, ladies! I'm still in the hospital, pregnant. Just like with the previous pregnancy, they don't know why I'm contracting. I've been off Mg sulfate since yesterday am, and on Procardia since. They were going to discharge me today, but my cervix shortened, so they're keeping me at least one more day and having me evaluated again tomorrow. The good news is that baby's doing well, got the steroid shots for lung development, and passed the 28 week mark yesterday. Of course, I'm still hopeful for a few more days (or even weeks) so he can put on a few more ounces and shorten his time in NICU,

Chrisa: Every extra day is a blessing!! I hope babe stays put a lot longer! How are you holding up being in the hospital?

Cindy

Cindy, thanks for asking. I can handle staying in the hospital for as long as necessary. I've been on self-imposed bed rest at home since 14 weeks, so it's not a major lifestyle change. Anything to keep my LO in a few more weeks.

Hansigurumi, DH got the offer! Now we have to figure out the logistics of moving. Drs. were pretty clear I'm staying put until 34 weeks no matter what. I can only hope to make it that far!

Chrisa - that's good news so far! Every day counts for sure, I'll be thinking lots of healthy vibes for you and baby :)

I had my 28 week midwife appointment today. I did the blood glucose test - I ate pancakes w/syrup and 2 eggs and drank some apple juice. My levels were nice and low. She also checked my iron levels and they are good still. :-) The only crazy thing was that she said I was measuring 31 weeks (I am 28 weeks 4 days)! I think I was measuring a week ahead last time. I gained 2 lbs in 1 week so she said baby likely just had a growth spurt. Or who knows, maybe she measured wrong. I was thinking yesterday that my belly is the same size as my 30 week pic w/my daughter.

So crazy that appointments are every 2 weeks now!

Question of the week: For those of you having your 2nd or more baby, will you be doing anything special to prepare for after baby comes in terms of your older child? Like special bins to play with while nursing, etc? Or if you already have 2 kids, can you give any advice in this area?

I'll answer my own question later. :-)

Cindy - so glad you're so healthy! Great news!

Just popping in to say hi. I started my most crazy busy part of the summer with teaching today. It had been ramping up for a few weeks, but today our first batch of 50 kids arrived from China, so I'll be teaching every day except Sunday, mornings with the kids from China and afternoons with my own private students. Trying to keep myself on an even keel, fitting in exercise, meditation/rest in the afternoons, and more meditation/rest with my husband at night before bed. Also, listening to music on the way in today was so much better than listening to the news, as I usually do. Of course I barely know what's going on in the world, but I figure it's better for baby and me to be relaxed and happy than stressed and freaking out. Who knew? (LOL!)

Anyway, I won't be able to be here much in the next 6 weeks, but I'll pop in every now and then to see how you all are doing! Happy 3rd trimesters! May we all continue with healthy pregnancies!

Chrisa- It sounds like good news! I hope Baby stays put for a long while yet! It also sounds like it was smart thinking to put yourself on bedrest so early in the pregnancy. I'm sure that has helped!

Boston- Whoa. I can't even imagine being that busy! Make sure you fit time for yourself in there!

Cindy- Yay for good levels! I measured yesterday, and I'm measuring ahead by a bit as well. Measuring 30 weeks at the very end of 27 weeks. (I'll hit 28 tomorrow). I think I went through a growth spurt though. Baby feels HUGE and is taking up all the belly room I've got! Something will have to give very soon here.

I had a night of Braxton hicks last night. Ugg. It's been a while since I had ANY this pregnancy, and last night I paid for it. They kept waking me up, but as it was just that intense tightening feeling, I tried to ignore it and just get sleep. Needless to say, I didn't get the best sleep! I think it's a warning to me though...I've been so busy walking around, and carrying a lot of heavy grocery bags, and I think I'm just not up to doing all of that anymore. I plan on taking it easier from here on out.

As to the question. Bah. I HOPE to have a good set up for ds, but it really all depends on how soon we find a permanent rental! I'd like to get him set with a lot of new art supplies and books and then mostly concentrate on setting up a very specific area for him. I think he'd like that at this age, and I think it might help him feel as though he has a special place just for him while we're all getting used to the baby. Beyond that though, I'm mostly just relying heavily on dh to keep ds busy and entertained while I concentrate on getting a good nursing relationship established. We have toys being shipped in from storage that will seem very new to him after being without toys for so long, so that will also help plus he's a pro at using my computer now for these nifty preschool-ish games and videos, so I think he'll be fine.

I still think he'll be a crazy one while he's getting used to the baby though. We looked at pictures of babies crowning last night which he surprisingly took VERY well although I thought they might have been a bit graphic for him. He seemed relieved though to see how the baby would actually be getting OUT of me! lol

I feel like crap today! I drank a lot of cranberry juice for my suspected UTI yesterday and it made my heartburn SO BAD! So between the heartburn and restless legs, I totally could not sleep. I think I fell asleep around 4 - but woke up a ton before we got up. I actually was falling asleep in a chair this morning! I just feel uck today on top of being exhausted. So we haven't done a lot. Anyone else have restless legs? I had it with my last pregnancy and I've had it a bit with this one while siting on the couch - but I've never had it in bed at night until recently. And it sucks!!!

But we have received a lot of packages today! That's been fun!! I got the 2nd seat for my Phil & Ted's stroller today. I got some butt cream I ordered and a beautiful, flowery newborn diaper that I couldn't resist. :-) And then I used my 10% registry completion coupon on amazon to get a few bottles, a bottle brush, a few pacifiers (not sure if we'll use them or not), inserts for the wipes warmer, wool wash. Now I think I officially have EVERYTHING!!! LOL! Except my birth kit.

Just popping in quickly - Vegan, restless legs can be a magnesium deficiency (as can calf cramps) Are you taking a cal/mag? I would ask you midwife/Dr about additional mag and see if that helps. Magnesium gets depleted very easily in pregnancy (think mag sulfate for stopping labour contractions) Hope you feel better soon!!

I second springmum Cindy. Hope you get some relief soon!

I actually slept like a baby last night. Like...12 hours straight of drooling bliss. lol It was wonderful and I have no idea how I managed it!

I'm now getting comments from everyone that I look huge. Apparently I was right about having a growth spurt last week and maybe that was the cause of the worst of my discomforts. I just have no idea where this baby is going to FIT for the next three months! It's like a giant egg shape stuck on my front and I have my doubts as to how it's possibly going to keep growing straight outward...but it can't really grow upward anymore as baby's already kicking my ribs!

Springmum: I take a cal/mag supp every evening with dinner. But I was just reading up on this and I dont think it's enough mag. I think I'm going to get a separate magnesium supplement! I saw Natural Calm reccomended. But I may just get a pill. Not sure yet. I've also heard iron deficiency but I just had my levels tested on Monday and they were good.

Cindy, Gloria lemay mentioned Natural Calm as a really good choice in supplement in one of our classes.

I actually got some sleep last night and I feel like a new person!! I'm still drinking my cranberry juice but I'm mixxing it with a lot of water so it's not bothering me as much. I still had a little restless legs last night but I think my body was so worn out that I still was able to fall back asleep. I also shoved my foot under my fat cat and that helped. LOL. But I am def off to buy magnesium today! I also read about a homeopathic restless legs thing I may try.

I am 29 weeks today. :-) I did my weekly weigh in and I actually lost 1/2 lbs. I'm kinda glad bc I gained almost 2 lbs in my last weigh in. Just haven't been eating as much this week. I've gained 20 lbs in 29 weeks. I'm pretty ok with that. If I gain a lb a week, I should end up around 30ish lbs - same as last time.

I just posted a question about natural calm. Took it for the 1st time tonight bf bed-to help with sleep- and it is 1230 am and i woke up with urge to poop :/ and burping/chest pain from reflux. The pooping is a side effect of the calming sensation from the magnesium. Guess i am a little constipated.b. I am awake, but am exhausted and think i can go right back to sleep.... We'll see. My anxiety is kicking in due to lack of sleep...came on here to calm down (no pun intended)....

Last night was the last straw- slept from 830pm to 1230am...awake until 5am and slept until 930 am... arghh
