L&D is no fun!

Not unless you're full term and looking to take home a baby, that is!

Monday afternoon I had this bright idea to stand on the kitchen chair to open up the kitchen window.  I'm short, the window is up high, and DH wasn't around.  Well, as it turns out, the chair slid out from under me (backwards) and I fell, smacking my belly on the kitchen counter on the way down.  I was sore and felt bruised and my contractions picked up, so I went into L&D just to monitor baby and make sure she was fine.

I was put on the monitor, which showed I was contracting quite frequently.  Not regularly by any means, but frequently.  They weren't going to check my cervix, but I'm glad I asked them to.  I'm 1cm dilated and not very happy with that.. I'm 30 weeks along.  I was sent home on 24 hours bed rest, and am just not allowed to lift anything heavy or do anything strenuous.  Fun, because today is my day off and I'm in full-on nesting/laundry mode!

Anyways, I go back in on Friday morning for my prenatal.  I'm going to ask that my cervix be checked one more time, since I'm still contracting fairly strongly and I've been having a lot of cramping and back pain.  Wish us luck?

Scary! I hope everything settles down. I have had some really close calls, but nothing like falling off a chair into the counter.

Keep us posted!

That is scary and I'm glad baby and you are okay. Rest like you are supposed to and those contractions should settle down. I hope by your appointment on Friday things are improved for you. I almost fell face forward the other day when I was holding a door open for someone behind me, I looked back and was still walking forward and didn't realize there was one step down. I was so thankful I caught my balance but felt a little embarrassed! LOL.

Oh, how scary for you! It's is frustrating to be unable to do things that seem necessary, like openi a window, or lifting a (heavy) toddler. Take care and absolutely rest today!

Oh geez! Good luck to u! So glad to hear LO is safe and ok after that! I would be so alarmed.

Oh, mama, that is scary! Take it easy and keep us posted. Sending staying-in vibes to the babe, and staying-healthy vibes to you both.

Stay-in-baby and cervix-stay-closed vibes your way!! Really, really REST!!

Wow, that's nerve wrecking! I'm glad you know what's going on with your body though and you aren't just sitting at home going crazy. Be careful lady!!! (:

Glad everything is looking good for now! Rest and take it easy!

How scary!  Definitely rest up and take it easy.

Thinking about you! I hope the two of you continue in good health!!

Yes to all the above, but on the 1cm, it is common/normal to not be completely closed.  Remember it's not a scientific measurement, it's subject to interpretation by the HCP and they may have 'rounded' you up to a 1 when you were really just a teensy bit open.  Now get some rest!

Oh wow...i'm glad you're back home. Take it easy mama.

I have to ask though. I thought the cervix in moms that already birthed a baby is always a bit open? No?

Hm.. maybe.  I am content with the fact that my cervix was basically in my throat, though :)

Thank you all for the well wishes!

Eek, I have nightmares about things like this. I'm glad baby is doing well though! Hopefully your contractions will chill out and hold off for another 7-8 weeks at least!

Oh, I am so glad to hear you are okay! Be sure to take it easy when you can...it sounds like your body is telling you it needs some rest!

Glad to hear everything is okay.

Well, except for the bruised part.

Today is my first day back at work in three days.. I may go get checked out after work. I'm contracting and having a ton of pelvic and cervical pressure. Kinda worried, I'll keep posted. I'm supposed to see my midwives tomorrow morning but something just feels off.

Big hugs and healthy baby vibes to you.

Definitely follow your intuition and get checked after work. Hopefully it just ends up being that you need more time off work - not that bed rest is fun at all, but maybe you just need more rest. Also sending healthy mommy and baby vibes your way. Keep us updated. hug.gif
