Dumb question: Tarp recomendation

Yup, just overwhelmed at what the heck kind of tarp to use under a la bassine. I don't want a stinky one. But maybe they all have a smell.  I also don't know what size.

What kind of surface are you protecting?  Carpet/ Wood?  Does it need to be truly waterproof or do you want it just to be around to resist water?

I don't really know. I definitely don't want it leaking. It will be over carpet. I guess just resisting water would be fine.

I got a disposable painters tarp from Home Depot/Lowes and then put an old blanket on top of it.  Worked great, no smell, and CHEAP :)

Really, you're not going to be getting any more water on the floor than you would getting in and out of the bath tub - unless the tub springs a leak, in which case you're kind of screwed anyway.  I had to stop pushing for 40 minutes or so while I was in the tub so I was doing my fair share of flaring my arms and hopping around to try and cope with it, and our floors were totally fine.
