My husband likes to drink on a semi-regular basis, but I would certainly not describe him as "a drinker". We don't always have beer or other alcohol in the house, or anything like that. He bought a case of beer two weeks ago and has not finished it yet. However, we went to a wedding last weekend and he probably had about a pitcher of beer, and today he flew cross-country with his brother for a few days to attend the wedding of a friend from college, so I know he will be drinking every day from today through Saturday, but he said he wouldn't go crazy or anything. I'm just wondering if you think, (a) will this affect our chances of getting pregnant this cycle (I will be ovulating about Thursday next week), and (b) if I do get pregnant, could it adversely affect our child? I myself very rarely drink, and I'm definitely off it now altogether.

How will his moderate drinking effect our chances?
The baby will come out drunk.
I'm kidding, I think you guys will be just fine.
I agree - I know lots of people who conceived while drunk, and the kids are all fine!
If it weren't for drunk conceptions, I don't think the Earth would have 7 billion people.

So true! DH and I were absolutely smashed the night we conceived DS. (I blame the open bar at his cousin's wedding!! To this day, amaretto and coke will always remind me of that night, lol)
I think if he was a heavy drinker on a regular basis it might be a problem, but a beer every once in a while should be fine!
Good luck!!

Well, I know that drunk conceptions are no big deal, I was really more thinking about possible long term negative effects on his "sperm capabilities" from his level of drinking. I know heavy alcohol consumption is a problem, but where is the line?
I conceived both of my children while drunk and they are just fine :) You will be ok Good luck!!
I did a literature review on the medical literature on this topic, and there is no evidence that father's moderate drinking matters. :)
