Yep! You're in!  :)  Welcome aboard!

Does anyone have any advice on calorie intake while breastfeeding?  MyFitnessPal recommends 1580 calories/day in order to lose 1 lb/week.  I know bfing can burn 300-500 calories/day all by itself, but I'm just not sure how to adjust while trying to lose weight.  DD seems to be a light eater (at least compared to DS), so I'm guessing I'm closer to burning 300 calories/day than 500.

Diana - I'd actually say eat the 500 extra calories -- you're not only nursing, you are healing from major abdominal surgery and your body needs those calories to heal!  And, if you short your body on calories for those two things, it will start hanging on to everything you eat and put your metabolism in a lower state making it harder to lose weight.

That's exactly what I'm worried about.  My body does that anyways during pregnancy, and I gain a TON of weight no matter what I eat...  But after having DS, I was starving.  This time around, I don't really want to eat.  Nothing sounds good, except for Starbucks!  LOL  And speaking of eating, I need to figure out what to have for dinner tonight...

Welcome newies!  Another good turn out joy.gif

BFM:  You are so brave to sugar detox.  Detox anything sounds terribly scary to me, although I'm sure it can be beneficial.  (How are you doing otherwise?)

Lilac:  ROTFLMAO.gif  Taking your scale with you!  I love it!

Diana:  I feel you, (sort of).  I had abdominal surgery to remove the dodgy half of my uterus about 10 years ago (no C/S, but kind of a "smaller version), and I remember being freaked out about doing too much, but I'm pretty sure that your pain receptors won't let you get to the point of doing any damage.  I think "mild discomfort" is probably okay.  Re: walking, we started out doing about 3km, and worked up to about 5km.  Google tells me that's about three miles.

AFM:  I'm doing okay.  I've been eating super well, and I am absolutely miserably bored with it already.  Salad.  I'm a vegan - I should love it, right?!

Have you guys ever heard the pro-ana slogan "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels"?

I just have to wonder, have these people ever eaten hot chips and gravy?  Or nachos?  Or a chocolate sundae?  ROTFLMAO.gif  Heavens, I'm dreaming about junk food!

I'm honestly not taking the mickey out of a serious issue (not much, anyway) but sheesh!  I honestly can't fathom being at a point where the idea of pizza and a cosmo doesn't make me weak at the knees.  I have these moments where I think, ah - I'm not that fat.  Stuff this healthy eating crap!  *sigh*

My DD is nutso today and already peed' all over the house (we are potty learning for the umpteenth time!). This muggy weather is weird too-- anyone in So. Cal wondering what is up with this tropical stuff? Makes me want a Mai Tai. Hahaha!

Friday is here! I'm going to do my 5th workout today! I ate In N Out Burger for lunch and darn it... had some fries. UGH!!!

I have been eating horribly all week.  Eating poorly makes me lethargic so there has been little physical activity.

But...starting now I am going to do better...really!

Just walking this week.  I wasn't feeling good and and having dizziness. Thought it might be related to hitting the back of my head(wearing helmet!)  on the ice the week before. I went to the doctors and test results came back that I have iron deficient anemia, a UTI, and low D. Also some other stuff came up on my blood test so waiting to do further tests. I haven't played hockey all week. :(   My body doesn't absorb iron very well, food or supplements, so it's not as simple as just adding more iron to my diet. My mom has the same problem.

I'm in So. Cal. The muggy weather reminds of hawaii without the beautiful scenery. Lol

Diana: I added you on MFP.  I input breastfeeding under food (look in my food diary and you will see what I mean).  I would go with 500 calories. MFP figures out the deficit for you which is really helpful.  I eat 1780 + 500 for breastfeeding and I have been consistently losing (I think I have mine set to lose 1.5 lbs per week). I hope that is helpful.

Today is prob. not gonna be a workout day for me. Had a migraine earlier that I managed to fight off but now I am super nauseated and just off.  Lentils and brown rice for dinner eat.gif.

milk8shake:  There is this book called "Clean Food" by Terry Walters, and  ALL the recipes are vegan (I think gluten free as well) and super yummy!  I have made several of the dishes and been really satisfied.  I sometimes struggle with adding veggies to my diet and making it something I WANT to eat and this has made it much easier.  She has another book to (clean start?) that I am now picking recipes out of.

amandamarie: I hope you feel better soon!  There are liquid vitamin D drops made by Carlson that are awesome!  I drop = 1,000iu and doesn't taste like anything unlike some gross ones I bought once.  Sometimes my iron sucks too but just using cast iron to cook (esp things with acid) has helped maintain it for me.

LexiDrew:  That cookbook sounds great.  We've been trying to eat more vegetarian meals, so I will check that out.

AmandaMaria: I have problems with Vit D as well.  I take supplements, eat lots of dairy, and run out side and it is still low.  I'm going to the doc about it, so if they give me any ideas, I'll let you know.

This week has been good for me.  I've stuck with my exercise and getting more sleep, so I have been happy about that.  I've been really hungry even with staying at my calories and trying to eat enough protein and fat.

I have low vit D also.  I first had it tested five years ago.  In March of this year I went to a new doctor who increased my vit D to 10,000 IU/daily.  My levels will be retested in Sept.

Milkshake, I have been putting my weight on a calendar since January, and it has helped me to not do something dumb food wise.  Taking the scale to keep my routine.

Lexi, I need to make some lentils and rice.  I haven't had that in awhile.

Ok.  I have PMs out to the two on my list that haven't posted starting weights or pulled out of the challenge.  Hopefully they'll let me know today.

Hope the potty learning takes this time.  Congrats on the workouts!

You can do it!  Never to late to start over again for the day!

Yikes!  D deficient here too - I'm getting some blood work done the first of next week so I can compare to last November.  Hope they can get the rest figured out!

Friday workout was boot camp. We had a different instructor... did not like the class today... not enough fat crying for me.  orngtongue.gif  Will be fixing that with cardio in the morning.

took me 10 days to get the nerve to take a "before" photo

big tummy- big arm

that's what is bugging me most ....

400

IsaFrench - I still don't have the nerve...  I know I should, even if I don't post it, but I just can't seem to make myself...

LexiDrewMama - Thanks!  I looked under "exercise", since I didn't realize you could have negative calorie foods.

Milk - Yes.  I know giving up junk is worth it in the long run, but it's sooo hard.  I almost lost it this morning while I was out at the market; I wanted Starbucks like nobody's business (which is especially pathetic because I have an espresso machine and all the goodies to make mochas and such at home).  And you're probably right about my body letting me know if I'm doing too much.  I'm so impatient, though.  Except today.  Today I'm exhausted and don't even want to budge off the couch.  Now about that mocha... caffix.gif

Is anyone else on MyFitnessPal?  I'd love some buddies!

Met my workout buddy this morning for an awesome workout: time on the treadmill, time in the weight room, then spin bike and the basket ball court.  Felt so much better when we got done.

Thanks! I did pick up some Floradix and some vitamin D drops. We have a cast iron pan so I'll use that too. More tests scheduled for Monday. My doctor is delaying the MRI to see if the dizziness is from the anemia. More tests on Monday.
