Previous Heavy bleeders and Paragard

Thread Starter

I am thinking about getting the Paragard inserted on Friday.

Currently i have 7-8 day periods- the first 2-3 are VERY heavy, but no cramping.

I don't want to get the mirena because i don't do well with hormones.

I'm curious if any of you that have the Paragard, had heavy periods before insertion and if so, how were the first couple months?  I'm moving overseas in the next month and a half and don't want to have complications.

Thanks!

I was a pretty heavy bleeder before having Paragard inserted, after the fact it's much worse.  I've had it in for about a year and a half, and the bleeding has decreased a little bit, but definitely not to normal levels.  It's so bad that I can't even wear a tampon for more than an hour on the heaviest days.  I've taken to just stuffing my baby's diapers into my underwear - at least then there's not so much potential for leakage, even if my jeans fit a little oddly redface.gif

Other than all that, Paraguard has been fine.  No cramping or anything, and, most importantly, no pregnancy.
