Bloating & insomnia

Ugg. This has been a tough week. I'm about 6 weeks along and am suffering horrible bloating & insomnia (possibly linked). The week started with bad nausea, which I'm getting under control. I"m trying to eat small, healthy meals - which is helping during the day. But, by evening my stomach is so distended & I'm getting indigestion too. grossedout.gif  Last night I could feel my stomach pressing again DH when I hugged him & I felt like I was 5-6 months preggo!!  Then I'm not sleeping. I'm trying to limit the time of my naps, but even when I get to sleep, I'm tossing an turning and up every few hours. It's really getting to me.

Just curious if anyone else is dealing with this and what you're doing to help. Thanks!

I've had insomnia, too, but I think it's stress related rather than pregnancy related.

Really hard getting to sleep over here too. I think it's more hormonal/ stress. What I mean is, I feel stressed out, so I stay online to decompress, then I get too much light from the computer so I can't sleep. Plus ds is in the middle of the terrible threes right now. Yesterday was so bad. I think I just cried myself to sleep imagining him as one of those kids staffed for special ed for behavior reasons. mecry.gif

As soon as I'm done with lunch I'm napping. I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to go back to work next week.

Insomnia was one of my first symptoms. I think it is DEFINITELY pregnancy related! I am also bloated and marveling, I was afraid that since this is #2 I will show much earlier. But, this makes no sense.

I had terribly insomnia when pregnant with my DD. I had never had it in my life before then. My midwife suggested a skullcap tincture and it worked wonders. I've had some insomnia this pregnancy too but I think it's more stress/anxiety related at this point.

Oh, I taught those kids last year -- I'm sure it's only the threes winky.gif  Amazing how some of the behaviors I'm seeing from my 2-yr-old are exactly the same as I dealt with in the classroom last year with 15-yr-olds.

I think my insomnia might be stress related as well. I don't know why though. Probably because I have too much going on right now. I basically did nothing today because I'm so beat. I feel bad for ds, but I just wasn't up for much. Thank goodness for the weekend -- dh can share in some of the duties and hopefully I can relax a bit.

I limited my nap today to about 30 minutes. I'm hoping that will help. I have no appetite right now at all. I tried to eat small meals & drink lots of water today. It worked until about an hour ago. Now the bloating is setting in. Boo.

I also worked with special ed kids last year. I worked one-on-one with a little girl who behaved at times exactly like my three-year old, which is why I think I did well with her, but it left me kind of scarred when I see him doing the same kind of bad behavior.

DS, thankfully, is getting into board games and puzzles. We can play quietly in his room for quite some time without me feeling tired.

I am dealing with insomnia, too!  I lay in bed for an hour minimum before falling asleep and can't sleep because I am up to pee every two hours.... Then trying to fall back asleep after going to the bathroom seems impossible!  I just stare at the clock!

Thanks for the advice about the skullcap tincture, Carmen!  I'll have to look into that!

Yes Carmen, thanks! I'm planning on making a trek out to my local apothocary to pick some up. I slept a little better last night, but still not great. I woke up this morning with a nasty headache on top of it. I think that has more to do with the little I was able to eat yesterday than anything. 6 more weeks until the 1st trimester is over. Let the countdown begin.

Bloating. Oh the bloating. I was just curled up in bed last night after dinner. Ow ow ow.

No trouble with insomnia though- I get horribly tired during the first trimester, and love an 8:30 bedtime (which I could do last pregnancy, but this time around, with a toddler, it isn't happening.)

Went and got the skullcap tincture today & they also made me something for the bloating. The mentioned that I'd be sleeping and farting in no time (sorry for the disturbing visual). Tried to bloat tincture after lunch, and ummm, they were right. blush.gif  I'm feeling better, though. I hope that they skullcap is as effective!

Oh the bloating! It's really ridiculous, I feel like I'm 5 months preggo, not 7 weeks! Normally I only have 3-4 BM's a week, now it seems I won't have one for 4 days at a time, then when I finally do go, it doesn't seem to help much... Sorry for the TMI. But I guess that's why we come here, to talk about all this stuff with others that are going through it too.

I too feel bloated and I think that the bloating makes the fact that I'm not hungry even worse. I have to force myself to eat, have been doing small meals, snacks, etc.

Occasionally have some insomnia as well, it's hard to get back to sleep after each time getting up to pee in the night, ugh! So glad I'm not alone namaste.gif

I can so relate to this. The insomnia is really hard / ironic because this pregnancy has made me so very tired.

And I'm with you on the bloating too. Ughhhhh. I hate how my tummy feels.

Well, glad I am in good company. Hang in there mamas, I hear it gets better.
