spastic baby movements

this is my thrid and I have never felt so much like baby is a large jumping bean..its more than hiccups, I think, or if it is, its some really  big whole body hiccups. I get the normal kicks/shoves/nudges and then these daily periods of really rapid large gitters/spastic like movements. I know baby isn't too coordinated movement in there but it sorta freaks me out a tad. I just don't recall movement like this before. Its amost like pool balls are ricocheting in there.

anyone else feel this way?

I have had the same feelings! It's not daily, but when it happens it almost feels like the baby is shivering or having muscle spasms of some sort and it's usually over pretty quickly. I'm planning on asking about it on Monday at my next appointment.

I feel that too! I have noticed Benji has more restful times and more active times now. So I'm getting the feeling these short spastic movements are his startle reflex kicking in if he is woken up by my movement/change in position or by loud noises around me or something like that.

Yep, I tend to get this if I lie on my side.

I'm also increasingly suspicious that I'm growing an octopus.. There's movement in so many different places that I can't make heads or tails (tentacles?) of it.

Yep. Sometimes it feels like a string of fireworks going off in my belly. Or like baby A is having some kind of seizure. Pretty freaky when it happens.

Yes, yes, and yes! A baby octopus (or even octopi!) Having seizures and shimmying and shaking away! But... I recall this with all at or least dd4! I love it! Silly, spazzy baby just figuring out how to get his/her groove on!

I feel this too. Lots of big movements, like he is turning sommersaults, then spastic jumping or something. Dd loves to jup, so I figure that baby brother is just practicing so that he can keep up. wink1.gif

Definitely feels like some flailing around in there!  I have a posterior placenta this time, so every little knee, elbow, fist and foot gets felt. Very different from my DS whose placenta was fundal anterior and was breech a good bit of the time!

One thing this kid does a lot that is super uncomfy is rotate its shoulders. I can feel the front shoulder grinding across the very bottom of my belly multiple times a day. OW!  AND I think I have actual broken capillaries on my belly from feet/knees on the top right.

this makes me feel better....I was sorta freaking about seizures or something like that too. I guess different babies move different.

Absolutely agree. I have just said that today, that I believe this little girl has at least four legs and arms LOL. I cannot tell what is what and she is moving so jerky sometimes and it - at least it feels like that to me - moves my entire body.

I also feel her head down there quite a bit, especially when I'm in the car. Very uncomfortable and sometimes, when she pushes her bum out, I feel her head pushing on my bladder which eventually ends in me having another BH contraction :). Wonderful.

Yep, this is us too. Sometimes I can't believe how much he makes my belly move. I don't spend a whole lot of time talking directly to the baby, so I think the thing I say most often to him is, "what are you doing in there buddy??"

Me too - with my DS all movements were very direct.  This one really feels like it has seizures sometimes and it made me really panic.

Glad we are all experiencing this together because I assume that means it's normal...

i keep feeling movement in 3 quadrants! how is this possible??? wondering if baby is sunny side up. I know the head is down/I can wobble it by pushing on it (heads wobble, bottoms dont) but feeling movements in 3 places at once makes me think either one leg or arm is behind the body.

I have the same thing going on now but it doesn't bother me because I first experienced it with DD2. I went into my doc and swore my baby was having seizures in there. He laughed and told me impossible. I have no idea why he told me impossible. I am not sure if he just wanted to make sure I knew how silly I was being or if he literally meant seizures are impossible in utero. But regardless of what he meant DD has never had a seizure outside of the womb and she is a perfectly normal child. In my mind I envision how dogs stretch sometimes and their paw will shake as they stretch. So weird I know, but this is what I imagine goes on in my belly. Who knows.
