I'm going to start whining to the parents in about a month.  That may solve most of it.  DH's mom will want to get us stuff and so will his dad.  My mom will make a lot of things for us.  I probably won't start picking anything up myself for awhile.  We'll see.

My last baby was born in Feb 2011, so we still pretty much have everything. I do want some new maternity clothes. If we are having a boy we will have to pretty much start from scratch on clothes, but if it's another girl...I think she would never have to wear the same outfit twice until she was 2.

Oh boy, this is all very overwhelming! This is my first and I have nothing! My sister and friends will have maternity clothes, so not too worried about that. Anything I can get for free, I'll take! So far I've been thinking about:

Co-sleeper
Stroller (been eyeing the city mini)
Ring sling to start
Cloth diapers (where do I begin?!) - not sure which system I'd even want to use
After hubby and FIL completely re-do upstairs (haven't touched it since we moved in several years ago, and it's an old house), I'll at least need a crib and dresser
Medela breast pump (although I'll try to wait until I go back to work)
Car seat
Some sort of space-saving bouncer or swing (my house is tiny)
Something for baby to eat in, high chair or my sister had a portable chair thing that worked well

This is my second, but my first is only 8 months old. So, if it's another boy I have tons of stuff.

Things I will need though:

Another crib

Crib mattress

double stroller

I'm sure I will think of more things along the way.

We have pretty much everything we need for baby.... we co-sleep so no cribs here.... i have a pack n play but i have never really used it. We have a bob double jogging strollee (a must for me). My infant car seat is still good. I will need to get another convertable eventually, although, dh has 2 in his car and we could just move it when baby out grows bucket seat.

We have tons of cloth diapers (we start at about 3 months). I just arranged to get a dresser from my mom. We have SO much girl clothes and my sis and sil gave me a few tubs of boy clothes and i should be set. I am excited about finding out the gender so we can go through and get rid of clothes.

I have a moby, ergo, boba, mai tai, ring sling.... i end up just using the ergo though. I may use the moby this time since it will be cold for a while.

My list is really short for things i need to have for each babe. Oh, i love having a breast feeding pillow, i have the boppy, but like the idea of my breast friend since it attaches and with 2 kids at home and under 5, it will be nice to be able to get up quickly to help.

We bought our Vitamix from their website. It was refurbished & came with the same warranty as a new one, but at a smaller price. They also did a 3 payment plan and it was a lifesaver. LOVE LOVE LOVE my vitamix!

My list of all I will acquire for this baby:
A mei tai
A playpen for sleeping and changing
Diapers -haven't decided cloth vs disposable yet
Clothes -as few as possible, maybe five sleepers for newborn
Some burp cloths in case itss a spitter
Bottles if I don't breastfeed
That's about it. I'll get a stroller after a few months but other than that I don't plan on getting much at all

Edited to add...this baby was so very unplanned I don't have anything left from my older kids and I definitely don't plan on more so I don't want to acquire lots of stuff I'll never use again

I don't know if we need anything else. I have a boy & a girl, so I'm set on clothes & gear. Maybe a few more newborn Cd. Oh I'd love a housekeeper or a cleaning service when #3 comes.

I think at this point I would kill for a cleaning service!

This one was unplanned but I had only given things away to friends so I know I can get a lot back. This thread is great because until right now I hadn't thought of all that we would need but here is a quick brainstorm:

Bassinet (on loan)

Swing (on loan)

Breast pump (on loan)

Car seat

Fix velcro on Bum Geniuses

More prefolds (I might try and make some)

Figure out if car can fit 3 car seats and with what kind of car seats. I would rather pay for newer, smaller car seats then get a new car.

Some new soft home-made toys (obviously not needed right away)

new cloths and wipes

some new undershirts

boy clothes? I won't know until after baby arrives. I should have enough unisex stuff to start out with if it is a boy - maybe a couple new warm sleepers to get us started.

It is going to be COLD here when the baby is born (-30oC isn't out of the question for most of the month) so I'm thinking we will go for a bucket-style car seat so I can carry the baby into preschool when I have to drop off my eldest daughter since I also have to wrangle my second daughter in and out of the car/school. Although I'm thinking of ways of how to get out of preschool duty for the first month or two after this one is born - especially since it will be via c-section and I can't really carry anything for a while.

Things I have:

Obscene amount of girl clothes

Ergo, ring sling & moby

Crib (although currently occupied and we won't need it for a while after the baby is born).

Single and double stroller

lots of blankets

Can I tell you in some ways a cleaning service is overrated?

My cleaner comes every 3 weeks for 2-4 hours.  I spend the entire morning freaking out and CLEANING before she comes.  Seriously - they cant mop the floor/scrub unless every surface is clear of clutter.  They don't do dishes nor laundry.   They don't know where anything goes so like every toy has to go away, shoes have to be put away, clothes away -etc.   Don't get me wrong - I am greatful for being able to have someone come but sometimes I seriously think Im going to quit doing it. I do it for my kids so I know that they have a sanitary surface at least once a month and the tub and kitchen does  get cleaned properly.

We are going to try to switch her to coming every 2 weeks for 2 hours to see if it helps because I will keep things picked up more..  I dunno.
