Things to do before baby arrives - Page 3 « Back to Group Discussions

It's about time I post on this threat, with 5 weeks left until official EDD of Sept. 21st. 

Deep Cleaning:

Wash walls

Steam clean carpets and furniture

Super duper clean the bathrooms (my kids bathroom especially needs it)

Scrub the oven inside and out

Vacuum the car

Organizing/decluttering:

Move the bookshelf from our bedroom into the living room (anchor it to wall)

Move the desk from our bedroom into the dining/living area

Move bassinet and cupboard for baby stuff into our room

Declutter and organize the storage closet

Figure out a better way to organize kids room 

Baby stuff:

After I get diapers in the mail from my crafty cousins, order more cloth diapers if needed.

Get a toilet sprayer 

Get car seat that my SIL has for me

Wash all the baby clothes/sheets/receiving blankets etc

I also really want to get a new bed for our bedroom. We'll be cosleeping and our bed is really uncomfortable and I'd prefer a King to a Queen since we'll be co-sleeping.

We've made some progress!

1. Finish life insurance enrollment
2. Re-enroll in my health insurance
3. Pack hospital bags for L&D, Recovery, and Baby
4. Clean and stock fridge/freezer
5. Prepare some freezer meals and snacks
6. Finish making cloth diapers/wipes
7. Prep diapers
8. Put Hypnobabies tracks on both cell phones
9. Preregistration
10. Write newborn care plan
11. CPR class
12. Empty the trunk of the car
13. Deep clean bedroom and closet
14. Buy (or borrow) a cooler for ice and snacks on D-Day

I've made some progress on some of the other tasks, but I can't bring myself to cross anything off until it is 100% completed. I'm re-evaluating my desire to have some freezer meals. Like nukuspot, I'm wondering if I wouldn't feel better just having the freezer stocked with all the ingredients for easy meals, and plan to enjoy the fresh produce that's still available this time of year instead of having meals completely prepared. I think I'll talk to DH about it later.

My list (nothing in order, it all has to be done):

--write out a better transition plan for when I need to hand over projects at work

--clean out the mini van top to bottom and install car seats (this is a pet peeve of mine how gross the mini van is)

--set up the nursery...I at least have all the diapers washed, packed and I just finished washing the shirts and swaddling cloths

--come to terms with the c-section (hardest thing ever)

--pack, move, unpack, get our current home ready for the family we are renting to.

--the house list (just thinking about it is very omg!)

• ordering/installing screens on windows
• ordering/installing water filtration and softner systems
• ordering/installing washer, dryer, dishwasher
• picking up odds and ends like door knobs, light switch plates, vanities, etc.
• there is a lot more but I keep losing track sometimes!

--Oh and thanks for the reminder!! I need to disconnect the diaper sprayer fromt this house to take with me.

13pumpkins - I have to say you are one brave lady for planning a move this far along in your pregnancy, and with triplets to boot!  I hope you have lots of help!!

I am feeling pretty productive about my to-do list lately...everything seems to be falling into place :)  I even scored a free newborn photography package! 

-finish basement - getting there...just one more closet door, touch ups and a few details left :)

-move DS1 to new room

-set up playroom

-find a new van!

-install carseats

-wash baby clothes/blankets/etc. and organize

-get second swing

-buy newborn diapers

-make freezer meals/muffins/breads

-find baby names! - tentaively decided on two boys names' and one girls' name...

-get DH to fix the glider

-get a haircut

-get baby books

-pack a hospital bag

-schedule help for M & Z

-hospital tour/figure out where L&D is

To be safe, we interviewed a moving company and had them price out "worst case scenario" if we suddenly found ourselves unable to pack and move.  Thankfully, it fit the budget, though we are going to try to pack as much as we can first.  Also, DH and his brother are going to move the nursery over next weekend for us (the house is being painted this week and the floors are almost done) so I can start pulling baby stuff.  As for the rest, I figure we can sort it out LOL.  I think my list last week was a bit more daunting when it included stuff like "get well pump repaired so that the house can have water"  (triplets are a fun surprise, last minute broken well pump not a fun surprise).

1. Ordered Birth Kit

2. Got Pool squared away

3. Burn Hypnosis for Childbirth Cd so I can listen in living room

4. Baby Clothes

5. Diapers

6. DS' support person confirmed

7. Birth Kit with liner arrived

8. 2 bowls for birth supplies (one with lid for placenta)

9. Birth Supply list gone through and things checked off!  

10. only 2 things left on birth supply list and they aren't any super important ones.  :D

11. Son's toys gone through and sorted.

A Few to-do:

1. sell tv 

2. sell golf clubs (dh does not play golf, why we have them is a mystery, they take up valuable space)

3. move toys to corner where golf clubs were

4. re-arrange bed room to suit new baby needs and move my 'spot'.

I've never posted but kind of had this 'to do' list in my head the whole summer.  It's pretty amazing what I'm writing down in my final hour vs. what ideally I would have wanted to be done. :p  We're having a BBQ next Sat, so really all of our house stuff will be done (deep clean/light organize, etc...) so I'm focused mainly on that.  Also we were working on a kitchen renovation all summer so my 'to do' list has involved things like strip woodwork, plaster walls, etc...  After the party, all the baby stuff needs to come out and get organized but it's within reach and ready to go:

Birth supplies: gather in basement from around the house

Birth pool: pre-inflate, check hose/connector

Set up cosleeper in bedroom

Bring baby dresser up and put baby clothes in

Put DS' next size clothes into his closet

Put carseats in car, turn DS' to FF?

Bring baby swing down from attic, wash

Pack emergency hospital bag

Already done: washed clothes through 6 mos, NB diapers, nursing bras/tops, washed carseat cover, washed sheets in DS crib and layered them all with waterproof pads (whoever suggested that upthread was genius, I have 3 changes of sheets on there now!)

2. possibly night wean DS?? Idk if he's ready though and I don't want to traumatize him :/ We didn't do this, I have just given up hope on it

3. general deep cleaning

5. set up "family closet" in the closet under the stairs

7. order birth kit (I was waiting until my US to make sure I was ok for a hb, had an issue with a low-lying placenta- got the all- clear!)

8. get hb sheets, towels, etc from my mom

9.shampoo the carpet

10. hopefully buy waterproof mattress pad for our mattress

11. organize pantry and laundry room

The In-laws took DS for part of the day so I got most of this stuff done this morning! YAY!! I am worried that my due date is off and I won't get stuff done. I have been HURTING lately and yesterday when I bent over I felt a lot of pressure, like he was just gonna fall out! I am only 36 weeks though so I really need to make it at least another week or two... It's so crazy that babies are already, makes me wonder when mine will be here!

Lol ok ive been spying on what everyone is getting done and ive decided i need one too, so here goes.....

• Finish cleaning and organizing all LO/ DD's upcoming cloths..."ive got stuff from newborn to like 6 year old pants, its madness...and not enough of it is newborn", blankets, cloths ect
• get baby bottles "if its like my first baby my breasts will let me down and i wont be able to breast feed her for long "
• shampoo carpets
• organize bedroom
• get toilet fixed
• Deep clean  bathrooms
• deep clean kitchen!!
• clean out/reorganize fridge and freezer
• try to organize closet in DD room "it has been a catch all for all of our stuff since we've moved in and will be a disaster"
• clean out car
• pack birth bag for me and greenbean!
• do hospital tour
• try to organize cleaning supply cabnets, and crafting supplies
• get sheets for babies bedd
• try to file for work leave with HR... thinkin i may be too late though
• WRITE A BIRTH PLAN!
• come up with name list
• get after birth supplie...super maxi pads ect... the cold pad things and water squeezy bottle i got before where given to me at the hospital i had DD at and i have no idea were to aquire these things now...
• try to aquire or make big sister T's for our LOs lol talk to grand parents about getting them birthday cupcakes or something for babysisters birth so they can have a little exciting celebration
• figure out how im going to handle the girl when i have this little one..dont wanna make anyone stay at home and not come to the hospital not sure how to handle it
• try to find some knitting patterns for hats, mits, and socks for baby I HAVE THE YARN BUT CANT FIND PATTERNS! no good
• try to find some time to bond with this little one before she's born...
• figure out what the heck im doin here with the cats....... "they SOMEHOW managed to get fleas even though they are indoor cats, so be bathed them, treated them and have them trapped in the bathroom then i cleaned all my carpets with vinager, then used vets best flea spray on all the floors and furniture, is made of clove and pepermint oil so i didnt have to lose my mind over poison, then literall covered ALL the floors, beds and couches with borax and left if overnight and vaccumed.....which was exhausting...oh yeah and had to wash all the bedding and cloths!" sigh all is cleared up now ..knock on wood... but the cats are still stuck in the bathroom with there box and food and some visits from DH... but now i dont know what to do till the baby is born, i know its mean but i really dont want them getting back out and having to start all over again just in case, plus its been so much easier keeping things clean without there fur EVERYWHERE all the time and them constantly knocking things over and being up all over my tables and counters, they are DH's cats and not at all trained and im honestly just feeling way to warn down to deal with them :(

My official due date is Sept. 21st, now only 2 weeks and 2 days away! Since i wrote this list about 2 weeks ago, I've crossed only 4 things off the list - reposting the update and hoping to cross some more things off the list today.
