HI Mamas, looking for and other wonderful advice! :) Baby number two here, DS is now 5 weeks old and giving us a run for our money. He has pretty bad GERD, which we went through with DD, os we know how to handle it, and with the combo of positioning, meds, etc he's slowly getting better. However, this kid does NOT sleep during the day. He will only fall asleep on a person (99% is me) wither in the rocking chair with a loud shhhhh'ing in his ear, or occasionally in a swaddle if he's in a willing mood. When we're out and about I can get him to fall asleep in the front carrier, but I can never transfer him. even if I do manage to get him down, he sleeps no longer than 15-30 minutes and then is up. this goes on all day, of ten with 4-6 hrs of wakeful time at one shot. This kid is exhasuted, it's apparent through his yawns and crankiness, but I can't figure out how to keep him asleep. Eventually, between 9-11 pm each night he eventually crashes and I can transfer him after falling asleep and he'll go 4-5 hrs for the first part of the night. But this isn't enough for a newborn?! And not normal?! It takes me 30-45 minutes just to get him to fall asleep in the first place. Could he be over stimulated? Can they really require dark and quiet this early? his older sister is only 21 months, so that's practically impossible to create during the day. Is this something that will just work itself out or should I really be trying to ensure that he gets more sleep? Anyone else have a baby that will ONLY sleep on top of them? thanks!
