Constipation

OK, let me pre-emptively say that I don't believe that there is such a thing as TMI amongst a group of pregnant women.

So, constipation is kicking in....gah.  This happens every time!  Still drinking lots of water, consuming lots of fibre, moving during the day, but I still have this problem!

...guess I'm going to have to buy some Metamucil again!

anyone else?

c'mon, I can't be the ONLY one, can I? :-)

I drink a little coffee and it gets things moving pretty well :) Usually about once a week or so.

Have you tried Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother in it)? It's an old folk remedy that people swear by to relieve constipation... Drink an 8 oz. glass of water with with 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar morning and night (it's not the best tasting drink ever, but just gulp it down quickly and swish your mouth out with water or brush afterwards).

I take apple cider vinegar every morning as I believe it has multiple health benefits and fortunately haven't had any constipation yet! So, maybe it's working! orngbiggrin.gif Please let me know if you try it and if it works.

What do you mean by "with the mother in it"?

I'm in the same boat! I always get constipated when I'm pregnant, and yup, it's already started here too. I get very crampy when its been awhile since I've been able to go. Very annoying.

My mother is a huge believer in Apple Cider Vinegar, so I just might try it. She usually just takes it like a shot, and then drinks a glass of water after to wash it all down. Yuck! But it does seem to cure a slew of ailments!

The "mother" is made up of living nutrients and bacteria. You can see it settled at the bottom of the bottle like sediment. Before preparing your dosage, shake the bottle making sure that you mix it all up. Some people add a little honey to sweeten it up which makes it easier to drink.

OMG The constipation has been horrible. I did not have it with my first pregnancy so it's kinda off setting. I am usually very "normal" and on schedule. I will gladly try the apple vinegar. Thanks.

Ok so I have tried everything natural I can think of eating tons of fiber and taking fiber, tons of water and getting my exercise but nothing was working. I have finally found a routine that has got me moving. Miralax in the morning and colace in the evening both are have been ok'd by my doctor and finally relief!!! I feel so so so much better.

I find drinking a bunch of water, eating a large bowl of large flake oatmeal with extra goodies(seeds, berries etc) and having a coffee can work wonders. When that doesn't do it, I have a cup or two of traditional medicinal smooth moove tea. That works for me every time.

I've been bloated and constipated lately, and yesterday so much so that I had to unbutton my shorts!  Then I decided to eat some greek yogurt and it seemed to have an immediate laxative effect.  Kind of like how before I was pregnant, the zinc in coldeeze lozenges would bring on loose stools.  no problems buttoning my shorts since then.

I'm not sure if I should avoid yogurt, or use it as natural laxative?

i put trace mineral drops in my morning water, and at night I take natural calm.  Both have magnesium, which keeps things moving.
