Heartbeat.

I know it is a bit early, but wondering if anyone has an appointment or u/s coming up in which they hope to hear the heartbeat?

you think I would remember, but what is the earliest you can expect to hear a h/b using the different means (i.e. doppler vs. ultrasound vs. transvag. ultrasound?)

hope everyone is well.

You can generally see a heartbeat by ultrasound at 6-7 weeks, (transvag will pick it up earlier, occasionally at late 5 weeks - like 5w4d+, abdominal depends on how thin you are, but we had an abdominal u/s at 7w1d and saw the heartbeat) hear it with doppler between 10-12 weeks (have heard of earlier, especially if you are thin, but safe bet is usually 12 weeks plus), fetascope at 16-20 weeks (I think)..

I had a transvaginal ultrasound last week following some minor spotting.  I couldn't hear the heartbeat, but I could see it (131!!).  I was about 6 1/2 weeks at the time.  I have my first appt. with the midwife coming up in a few weeks so I'm hoping I'll be able to hear the heartbeat then.

At my in-take appointment today I expressed concern about continued pain around my right ovary. Feels like ovulation pain, but obviously I'm not ovulating, so what the heck? We scheduled an early ultrasound for next Friday. I'll be 7weeks, 2 days. Looking forward to hearing the heartbeat. Hoping the pain (which comes and goes, not severe) is nothing.

I had something Clumsy, it was a cyst on my right ovary and the cyst is feeding hormones for the pregnancy.  The further I got along, I think 8-9 wks, it started the dissipate as the placenta took over

Thanks, Beantown. Someone said something similar about a cyst when I posted on the topic last week, but didn't elaborate. This is a little more clear. Thanks.

I saw my baby's hb yesterday at 6w6d.  :)  It was a transvaginal ultrasound.  I hear that by 6w3d you should be able to see it with that technology.  Doppler is around 12 weeks or so, though some women can hear it sooner than that!
