Naptime Solutions for Infant at Babysitter's

Thread Starter

I'm expecting a baby in a few months.  The baby will start going to the babysitter's at 3 months of age (3-5 hours will be spent at the babysitter's house and the other half will be spent at my house with the babysitter).  At my house I will have our mattress on the floor for the baby to sleep on.

However, I'm looking for a naptime solution for the baby to sleep on at the babysitter's as my children are the only children at this older babysitter's house, so I provide the toys, etc.  I want an inexpensive naptime solution for my infant as it will only be a couple hours each day.  Plus DS1 refused to sleep on anything other than our bed and in the sling.  Some things I've thought of are a child's portable cot, a crib mattress on the floor, a pack n' play mattress on the floor.

What suggestions do you have for what to get for the baby to take naps on?

Thank You,
Carolyn

Well, simplest might be an oval-shaped laundry basket with folded blanket in the bottom (would end up being kinda like a moses basket).  Instead of going with a full crib mattress - a camping or exercise mat could also work out just fine and would be a lot more portable.

If you have a stroller that would be comfortable to nap in, you could also bring that (or part of it - I'm thinking we happened to have a pram-stroller attachment thingy that would have been workable as a portable bed too).

When I was a nanny w/children not in their own homes I used a pack & play or snuggled the baby to sleep on the big bed and put pillows around when I got up so babe couldn't roll off. Portable bassinets are great too. If you can provide a couple options/suggestions for your sitter I'm sure they'll work out what works best for the 2 of them together.
