Anyone been HORRIBLY itchy during pregnancy? It just started last night and now its tonight too... itching like crazy everywhere. Up on the computer right now because couldn't sleep, too itchy. 37 weeks pregnant and just googled it and read that its a sign of a dangerous liver disease (ICP). Anyone hear of this or have this? Anyone have horrible itchiness in pregnancy and it turn out not to be this? Thanks so much in advance!!!!!

I have been itchy the whole time. I use lotion and that seems to help. Maybe your skin is just really dry.

Do you have a rash at all? It could be PUPPP (http://dermatology.about.com/cs/pregnancy/a/puppp.htm). I have a friend who had it with her first pregnancy and said it was so horrible because she was so itchy. I hope you find some relief!

My belly's been pretty itchy the last week or two (but no rash or anything).... for me I think it's just b/c the skin has stretched out even more than ever.  At the same time, my belly skin also feels numb, esp in the front and around my bellybutton - which I also attribute to the skin/nerves just being so stretched out.  The numbness is kind of a gross feeling to me, when I try to scratch the itches!!

Ahhhhh, I have the same numbness thing and I hate it! My belly is also itchy and I've found it helps to rub some body butter on after I shower, though twice a week it's in vain since they rub the ultrasound goo on my belly for the doppler at my weekly visits AND for the u/s at my weekly BPPs (scheduled on different days) and it seems to cancel out my moisturization efforts.

Yes, terribly itchy here, but it's because I ran into some poison ivy. Blah!!!! I haven't gotten it in over a decade, and I thought it was a bug bite at first, so it spread quite a bit before I got the special wash to get the oils out. Finally after a week and a half, it's going away!

I do have pretty dry skin right now, too, I think due to pregnancy, but I have been afraid to moisturizer, foe fear that I still had some poison ivy oil on me, and would spread it further.

Eluthia -I missed "body" and had this brief thought that you were rubbing actual butter on yourself LOL

My belly is just super sensitive to anything like bugs or crumbs under my shirt or whatever.

Mama chickadee- oh wow, you poor thing! I can't imagine poison ivy when this pregnant! I already think there should be rules against mosquitos biting pregnant bellies.....

I had pupps with my third. Let me tel you, I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy. Itchy. Every.where. No amount of moisture or oatmeal bath would help and..as against taking unnecessary meds while pregnant that I am..the benedryl was totally needed or I would have never been able to sleep. I went to my primary care doc and he said..wow, that looks like it itches. I wanted to punch him.

Pupps is awful! I have a mild case of it right now. I had it with my previous pregnancy as well. Get yourself some Grandpa's pine tar soap STAT, it really stinks but feels fantastic. Also, I take Sam-e, and it is supposed to help the liver detox. That's what has worked for me. Oh, and try as hard as you can not to itch it like crazy (if it is pupps) because it spreads quickly. 

Hope it is just the regular old pregnancy itches though
