We are very casually preparing to homeschool our preschooler. I was wondering if any experienced HSers had tips on what kind of supplies you like to stock up on while they're cheap during the summer.

I enjoy the game of back to school sales. I usually stock up on most everything if it's cheap enough. I keep it to use in during the year then when the big sales start up again I take all of it to a food/grocery pantry (they always seem to really appreciate it) and start over again. I budget $50 or so. Some items are used up completely and some are never touched (like 1¢ protractors). Staples lets homeschoolers get 25 each of the penny items, lots of our things come from there. I generally only get as much as will fit in a file box sized plastic tote. Any extras are donated right away. Anything I know we won't use are also donated right away. Things like packs of 1¢ pencils are set aside so I can let teachers I know keep them to hand out to kids who don't have a pencil since we like the name brand pencils.
pencils
pens
markers
crayons
folders
binders
dry erase markers
erasers
index cards
rulers
colored pencils
pencil boxes
binder dividers
reams of copy paper
construction paper
geometry tools
