I've been meaning to post this all week, but rarely get on the computer anymore. Typing on my phone is not fun!
Eleanor was born on July 14, at 4:30am. Labour was incredibly fast, with less than an hour of active labour. As a result, my sister caught Eleanor about ten minutes before the midwives arrived! She was born in the bathtub at home. I really thought I had a lot more time, but as soon as I got in the tub, things got pretty serious quickly. When I initially got in the tub (around 3:30am), my dh was sleeping (he had only slept 2 hours since getting off of work at 7:30am on the 13th), I hadn't called the midwives, or asked my sister to come yet. I messaged my sister around 3:45, dh woke up around 4 (at which point I was pushing, but resisting at the same time), and dh called the midwives a few minutes after getting up. My 2 year old woke up at 4:20, so dh went to get him just as my sister arrived. Thankfully she did, otherwise dh would have been catching the baby while holding the two year old. And probably throwing up, he has a weak stomach! Even though it was fast, everything went well. I had one tiny tear that didn't need stitches, and was up and moving around within a few hours after the birth. Compared to my last birth, this was a piece of cake.
We are all doing well. Eleanor nurses like a champ, and has been gaining about 2oz a day. My 2 year old is finding it a bit hard to adjust, but I'm hoping it will be better in a few weeks. Dh has the next few weeks off from work, so it will be nice to have the help.
