LilyTiger-- here's hoping for good news in the morning!!!

Hugs Lily!

I am too unfocused to do personals right now, but...

can someone have a baby, please? I can't believe we only have 3 so far.

Lily -  Where exactly did she hear the heartbeat? Was it low, in the middle or up high? If it was below your belly button, baby is definitely still head down, but if baby is posterior and kinda sideways (as in, a shoulder is facing outwards), it can be difficult to figure out the position. If you haven't already, go to spinningbabies.com and just start doing the stuff Gail recommends. I do the rebozo every night and the version (one where your butt is on a chair or couch and you put your elbows on the ground for 4 breaths). I don't have a breech babe, but I still do them to make sure the baby is in the right position. If you find out that your baby IS breech, it wouldn't hurt to send Gail a personal email and see what she says. She is a wealth of knowledge.

Boots - I'm starting to feel the same way! I don't want it to be me, but I'd love to see some more newborn pictures and read some stories! :)

Good luck LilyTiger - I hope it works out that baby is in a good position after all!

All of you dealing w/sweltering heat, my heart goes out to you - hang in there find a way and stay cool!  It is so so miserable when the temps get high and everything starts swelling, cramping, and your energy is sapped.  I can barely stand it when we approach the 90's here, I can't even imagine those higher temps that some of you are suffering from....

DH made it back home today, so finally I no longer have to worry about going into labor alone - yay!!!  Of course, all my "symptoms" have been really mild the past few days (I hope baby's not changing his mind about coming!!)... but now I'm not holding back from walking, scrubbing the house, DTD, or anything else!!  It would be perfect if baby could arrive over the weekend - just so that DH can catch up on his work here before taking his time off.  I'm so tuned in to every little BH, cramp, twinge, etc. now ..... although labor feels much less imminent than it felt a couple weeks earlier (maybe I'm just getting used to the aches and pains).......oh well, we shall see!!

This thread has gotten so long its hard to do personals, but I'll try!

Has anyone heard from Sol_y_paz? I think she was one of the next ones in line after ithappened. Hoping that the silence means that she's snuggling with a baby already!!

Poppy, sounds like you have a great week lined up. I got to 37 weeks on Monday and it's amazing to think that means that I have fewer than 3 weeks left ton get to the due date!

Lily, I hope that you get some great reassurance tomorrow! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. In the worst case, if the baby had space to flip so recently, there must be enough for the version to work, if it comes to that. And that is wonderful about the ms.!

Newmum, hoping that having your dh back is going great! I'm so excited that we'll be having another baby in the ddc pretty soon!

Kristy, we must have the same edd! Great to hear that you are enjoying your dh's company and have made a decision about the midwife and birthplace. That must feel good to have it settled.

Mommamelissa, sorry to hear about the extensive training schedule for your dh. Do you have someone around to pitch in while he's away?

Sounds like the transition back to the US is going really well, Lizbiz. So glad to hear that. You have accomplished so much in a week!!

Justchianti, so sweet about your dh. I also know what you mean...dh and I keep mentioning to each other that next time we do x or z, it will be with the baby. Amazing and still a little incomprehensible!

Boots, I hope that the brief return to work is smooth! I despise getting into the car on these hot days and try to do everything early am or evening. I like Lily's suggestion.

Jenna, sorry to hear that you are dealing with extreme heat, too, but it sounds like you have some good systems in place.

Lakeruby ,great to hear that things are moving along in your little one's room!

 I hope I didn't miss anyone!

AFM, still not feeling any indications of labor or anything moving along substantially. It just confirms for me that I really don't want my ob to do a cervical check unless anything changes. However, today on my walk I definitely needed to move slower than I've had to until now and it didn't have to do with the weather.

To the extent it's possible, I want to get everything baby-related done this week, so I'm bringing dh along for my appt Thurs morning and then we'll buy the final essentials. Also need to pack the hospital bag. I just want the last 2 weeks to be free of mental clutter, so I can relax, get more accomplished on my work projects and deal with the little issues I'm sure will come up when the other odds and ends are off my mind.

Hey Lily Tiger - Hope all goes well with the ultrasound and that it just confirms that the baby is still vertex.

You had asked about the flight - well, it was hard!!! I gained (and have since lost) about 6 pounds of water weight in 24 hours - I was very swelled (and I usually do not struggle with swelling at all).  And we were in seats where the armrests didn't go up - so our kids couldn't sprawl into their own seats to sleep with their heads in our laps - instead, they sat in our laps all night.  So, that meant I had a 5 year old on my non-existent 'lap' for 6 hours straight - no potty breaks :).  But, it is over.  I don't recommend it, but I'm glad we did it - we are here and that is good.

I'm feeling very ready for this baby to just come (I'm just 37 weeks on Thursday - but I'd be fine if I went into labor that very day)... I'm feeling pretty uncomfortable these days - big, tired, achy... I also want to maximize the time I have with the baby before I start my new job (October 1).  But on the other hand, it's good to breathe and just settle in and reconnect and enjoy this family time before the newborn phase hits again :).

There're also some unexpected very challenging family issues that we didn't anticipate having to confront that we are currently sorting through since we got back.  I'd really appreciate your positive thoughts and prayers ladies on that front.

OK - to bed with me!!

Sending you all good restful, baby-growing and birthing vibes this night!

Okay, how many of you BTDT mamas can tell me what it feels like to have the baby "drop?" This is my second pregnancy and my son never dropped. I never waddled or felt like I had a bowling ball between my legs. Today, though, I seriously can't walk and I feel a lot more pelvic pressure. I'm trying to determine if my shortness of breath is gone - it feels like it, but I'm not sure. Also, I didn't get heartburn after an incredibly tomato heavy dinner tonight. I even laid down immediately after dinner because I was so tired. I've never escaped heartburn like that before. So...help me out here. My belly doesn't really look like it's visibly dropped, but these lower pains seem to suggest that this kid is just burrowing down in there. I also know that "dropping" doesn't mean much, but it makes me more hopeful of a successful VBAC!

Hey everyone, baby is head down!!!!!  I forgot to ask precisely what position the little bugger is actually in because I was rubbing my belly off.  Everything looks good though and the babe is weighing in (according to notoriously inaccurate u/s measurements) at 6 lb 4 oz.  So I'm expecting around a 7 lber, which is what DH and his siblings and my siblings and I all were, so no real surprises there.  Very very relieved.  Now I can focus on doing all my tailor sitting and other moves to prevent a posterior babe.  Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Yay LilyTiger!!! I'm so happy for you!

LilyTiger - That's great news, woohoo!!!

LizBiz - your flight sounds brutal!!!  You must be SO glad to have that all behind you.... Hope your family issues get resolved and everything turns out ok, sending you positive thoughts.

I've been wondering too about Sol... haven't seen anything from her since before last week.  Hope everything's going well....

I can't wait to see some birth stories/threads in our DDC !!!!!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I am so tired I can't do personals but glad to hear everyone is doing well and happy to hear LizBiz got such good news!

My parents are here but their presence has just been a lot more work then help-- sort of as I feared. We have ended up doing the childcare/cooking/dog walking.. my dad has been good about dishes and trash but it about stops there..

I got some bad news this week that the babysitter we hired to help with Linos is now going to be gone until the end of August which means the period we hired here where we needed her the most she will be away for eyesroll.gif

I am recovering super fast from my c-section (much faster then from my normal birth, which is a huge surprise) just a but swollen still but no real pain... !

Anyhow, I am thinking of all of you. thanks for your support!

Hello ladies! Wow, I can't believe how long 2 weeks can feel when life is changing every day.

I hope you get good news today, Lily. Sometimes babies just like to play stump the doc. :) LO might just be really low and turned a bit. Fingers crossed for you! So exciting to hear about the interest in your manuscript. I hope the editing is going well and flying by.

It sounds like everyone is doing great and looking forward to meeting LO soon. I can't believe we're there already! NewMum, I'm so glad that DH will get to be w you when this LO comes. It must be a great relief to feel ready to meet your babe. I often hear moms say that they get a huge burst of nesting energy right before labor starts. Something to keep in mind. :)

Boots, I totally understand your heat concerns. Its been 95+ through this entire move.(ugh!) Its hard to deal with but if you have plenty of water and snacks that help restore what you loose in the heat, it helps a lot. The umbrella is a good idea, too. We have just been leaving the doors open for a few minutes w the air running before we get in the car to let it cool down. Peppermint oil on my temples and wrists helps too.

Welcome home, Lizbiz! I'm sorry to hear the flight was so uncomfortable but it sounds like you're getting settled in with no problem. Its great that you have almost everything in place so quickly! It must feel great to just get to have family time and wait for LO to make an appearance. :) I hope the family difficulties settle down quickly. I know how important harmony is during such a special time. Sending you lots of peaceful energy.

Mommamelissa, I hope all of your upcoming transitions go smoothly. Anticipating all that change is almost the worst part. I hope you have lots of support through this time. A big MN hug to you!

Good luck with your prep list this week, Andaluza. I can't wait to get down to the last few things on my list! Ours is still too long for my liking. :)

Feralfox - Good luck w the GBS test, mine is on Monday. What is the garlic for??

AFM, it's been a VERY busy couple of weeks. We are now moved into our new apt (thanks to my parents and a great Navy buddy who helped DH haul everything up 2 flights of stairs in 100 degrees and 90% humidity yesterday!) after a solid 2 weeks of looking and commuting an hour from my parents house. I'm so happy that my 8hr days in the car are over! I've been drinking gallons of water and propping my feet on the dash to try to keep the swelling down. It just feels good to have food in the fridge and all our things in one place, even if they are completely disorganized. :) We replaced our old car (that had no AC!) and I established care with my new MW. I really like her, she is super sweet and had DH get very hands on at our appt. She showed him how to palpate the baby and had him check the heart beat with the doppler. It was so cute! We are going to check out the hospital we'll be birthing at this Saturday and he started reading The Birth Partner. So, all in all, we are doing pretty well.

Baby has definitely dropped and is a serious mover and shaker! Bending over is basically a squat these days, my belly and my thighs are constantly competing for space. :) Its making all the new apt cleaning very interesting. DH is adamant that I take it easy but its so hard when there is so much to do! I'm trying to be realistic and remember that I do have to be careful. I'm not quite ready for this LO to come yet. So this morning I am being lazy, eating a 2 course breakfast and hanging out in bed. This afternoon, however, is all about unpacking and continuing the cleaning marathon! We are living in a 4-plex that was built in 1902. It has original wood floors, big rooms, high ceilings and a lot of built up dust. :P So much to clean! But its worth it, I think we'll really like it. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Yay, Lily! So glad that babe is cooperating!

Hugs to you, ithappened! I'm so glad you're recovering well. I hope you can settle into a nice routine soon, even though your sitter has poor timing. :/ Take good care of yourself and don't be afraid to demand help. <3

Sorry for the looong/repeat posts! blush.gif

I love being told to take it easy.  How else is anything going to get done?

My MIL loves to tell me to relax and not do this or that.  My response is "who else is going to do it?  Your son?"  And she's always like "good point."

I am getting so sick of hearing this.  I was told by my midwife to stay off my feet yesterday.  Well we have two other  kids and my home visit is today.  DH tried to help, but his idea of cleaning the kitchen is washing the dishes and loading the dishwasher.  Um, no.  And my mom keeps saying don't worry about the house, I'll clean when I come visit.  Great, but it needs to be clean for the birth mom.  A dirty tub and dirty kitchen sink are not going to help me relax in labor, especially if we need to use the tub.

LOL! Me too. My midwife, in fact said, "you need to let the house go". Hahaha, I wanted to LOL. And how is that supposed to make me feel less tired.

I know she meant it with the best of intentions, but nonetheless, I just couldn't imagine having a homebirth in a dirty house.

Ahhhh, the tub..... we're not homebirthing, but I plan to labor at home for as long as possible....so I'm always fretting about the state of our tub.  I'm the only one who will get it cleaned around here - and since I use "natural" cleaning products, it takes twice the scrubbing and the tub stays clean for only half as long (grrrrr!).  I'm about to go and scrub it yet again - that's 3 more times than I thought I would ever have to by now....

LeAnn - Good luck w/your final move-in and unpacking, I know what a PITA it is!  So much work, in the heat!!!  I hope you're all settled in very soon, enjoying your new home w/your feet propped up and resting comfortably.....

ItHappened - So great to hear that you're recovering well from your c-section.  What a bummer though about your sitter, so sorry to hear that!!!  I hope things can get resolved w/the needed replacement and help during that time.  Also hoping your parents' visit goes well and that they don't cause you too much extra stress/work.  Thinking of you and your babies, take good care of yourself!!

ithappened - do you have names and stats for me to put in the birth announcement thread?

Leann - supposedly the garlic kills the GBS long enough to get a negative test result.  I'm not sure how well it actually works, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try.  I'm glad to hear your move went well, and that you're settling in with no problems!

LilyTiger - I'm glad to hear your news!

I had my 36 week appointment today, and the size estimate is 7 1/2 pounds, already.  This baby needs to vacate asap!  I'm starting to worry about her size.

Hey everyone.  It seems like I might be next!  I'm fighting a little cold so I took a nap earlier today and I woke up to my water breaking!!  It's been gushing pretty consistently ever since.  The midwife came over and listened to the LO's heart beat and everything sounds good, so now it's just a  waiting game.  I'm having light contractions, but nothing worth calling home about.  Hopefully things will begin to pick up soon!  Keep us in your thoughts tonight! smile.gif
