My husband and I are doing our due diligence before we try to conceive. Ok, so I have Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield EPO and live in Budd Lake, NJ in Morris Couny. I am covered for labor and delivery in the hospital and for 48 hrs care afterward for vaginal and 64 hrs care for a cesarian section. I am not covered for prenatal care.
So I contacted two midwives through e-mail.One is Lonnie from the Birthing Center in Clifton, NJ. The other is Marla who works out of a ob/gyn in Denville. I am not interested in home birth, just a hospital birth with a birthing tub.
Lonnie seems very nice and said that the birthing center in Cliftion would work out a fee for my prenatal car. I like that there office has an infertility specialist too, since I have endometriosis and might have problems getting pregnant. That being said I can't imagine driving all the way down to Mountainside Hospital in Essex when I am in labor. I would like to Lonnie's office.
Now, Marla the midwife from Denville wrote this, "There is a global fee for "maternity care" which covers everything...pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the post partum course. BC/BS covers all of this, but again...that's for a hospital birth." I tried contacting St.Clare's in Denville and they have no idea what I am talking about. The billing office and wherever else they transferred me seem confused. Denville is a lot closer to me. Although I heard that they don't let people deliver in the tub.
So now I am confused. Any thoughts? Have other people gone through St.Clare's in Denville? Do they have a global maternity fee that covers everything?
