I slept on my tummy all night and now I'm feeling some pain/uncomfortable today..

I slept all night on my tummy apparently last night. I woke up wide awake at 7am with pain in my uterus area. I went to the bathroom and felt a little better. I was scared of the pain. I didn't expect pain this early along (9weeks) with stomach sleeping. I laid on my left side for a good 30 minutes to monitor if it was worse or better. It's better, but I'm at work now and it's still uncomfortable in my uterus area. It has had some round ligament type stretching discomfort the past few days, and this is similar but more achy. I'm not spotting or bleeding or any worse pain than discomfort.

Is this just a lesson to not sleep on my tummy from this point forward? I thought I was much further along than this in prior pregnancies before it was uncomfortable.

I found a maternity pillow on Craigslist today for cheap. I'm picking it up after work and hope it helps me not sleep on my stomach again.

Sometimes when I sleep on my tummy, my round ligaments hurt the next day. If it hurts, I would stop, but I dont think you are doing any damage smile.gif

Thank you. That was my thoughts, but sometimes you need to hear someone else say it too. :) I'm so nervous until I'm past 16 weeks. I lost my son at 16 weeks, and I'm not sure I can relax until after then.

i use pillows and stack them around and sleep mostly on my tummy and left side throughout pregnancy.  i always am surprised when i finally am too large to do tummy.  hope the maternity pillow helps!  got a body pillow so that husband would stop complaining about me sleeping like this:

with my knee hiked up on him.

then he stole the pillow, so all bets are off.  i need to get more pillows, we're running low.

sleep well!!!!

I agree, don't do it anymore - but it probably didn't hurt anything, besides you with the pain you're experiencing - i have similar pain when i wear pants that are too small, after a while it just gets achy and then hurts for several hours after i change ..  i'm 12 weeks now and i was having pain like that from too-tight pants starting at 6 weeks..you'd think my uterus would have been down far enough to not get squished by pants but it still irritated something in there..

At this point your baby is nestled in your womb, which is nestled in your pelvis still, so it's impossible at this point for you to do any "damage".   Don't worry!  I'm 12 weeks I still sleep on my stomach sometimes.

Still sleeping on my tummy.  If I'm on my side and sneeze the round ligament pain is unreal...  I'll stop soon, once my belly gets hard.  But if you're hurting you need to throw in some pillows to feel more comfortable.
