Can't get full!! HELP!

So I've reached the point where I am CONSTANTLY hungry... no matter what I eat, I just can't seem to stay full. I get hungry about 30 minutes after a meal. Any ideas?

I'm with you sister!  Here's what I've found, I have to drink alot and eat protein.  I just are a can of tuna with a few crackers.  The more carbs the hungrier I am.  I also still have bouts of nasea (I can't spell it) where the only thing I can eat is tomato soup.  But I want to eat!!  Oh yeah, fiber.  I haven't had pasta in months, I am ravenous after but we found a high fiber pasta and it def helped.

Yesterday I ate all day.  I went from oatmeal to nuts to doritos (yumm!) to chili, then to salad, fruit, nap and dinner.  After dinner was more. I just could not get full.

Yeah I'm feeling mighty hungry as well. I'm finding some success with beans, nuts, eggs, cottage cheese, and yogurt. I make salads that include those ingredients with some kind of yogurt dressing. I sometimes make dip for veggies with yogurt and herbs. Polenta is wonderful and filling too and very versatile. I make a lot of muffins and pancakes that are very veggie/fruit heavy,  made with rolled oats and some flour but not a ton. That said, I've eaten all of these things today and I'm still super hungry! Time for dinner #2.

I'm right there with you. I have been ravenous for the past week or so. Eating protein does help sustain me better, but I still want to eat more than usual (both in terms of quantity and frequency!). I've gained close to 15 pounds so far and considering I didn't actually start gaining weight until maybe 14 weeks (I lost weight in the first trimester), I'm a little worried about what the end result will be if this trend continues! EEK!

Me too!! For the past week I feel like I eat until I'm full and then I need to eat again 30 minutes later! Growing a baby (and a mama!) sure generates a giant need for food :)

I had to revisit this thread b/c I'm stll eating :)

HA!!  Over the weekend I had my first 3am bowl of cereal...just woke up ravenous!  Its pretty late and I'm about to make a protein smoothie before hitting the sack!  Its certianly that time for me too...just super hungry.  Sometimes for certain things and other times just for anything!

Yeah, this week is a nightmare. Eat something really filling. Starving an hour later. Eat a snack, not satisfied. Eat another snack, nope. Eat a third snack, suddenly heartburn and too full. A HA! Empty again and starving an hour later.  ARGH!

All of the above.  It really just hit me, this insatiable hunger.  Last night I had a snack before dinner, dinner, snack after dinner, and then a bowl of cereal.  I am like a bottomless pit!

I'm trying to avoid as much refined sugar as possible and to avoid carb binges, and the related hi-lows. Protein and fat seem to help with taming hunger. If I'm having a hungry day I try to eat small quantities much more often, snacks all day.

Oh my goodness same here! I have been trying to stay with protein snacks because they definitely keep me more full, but we are in the middle of moving and none of my usually food routines are in place. I hadn't eaten breakfast cereal of any kind in years, and within the past 36 hours I've had 3 bowls (and about to get some more). My family will watch me go to the fridge, find a snack, eat it, and go straight back to the fridge. It is definitely the worst when I start the day with carbs. Then I'm famished the rest of the day!

Oh glad I am not the only one! Its only 10:30AM and I've had a breakfast sandwich, a PB&J sandwich, a donut, a croissant, a greek yogurt, a banana, a liter of water.... and I am STILL STARVING!!!!

It's amazing. But no matter how much I gorge, and feel full... there is always room for ice cream! My boyfriend is quite impressed!

I'm the complete opposite of you all!  My appetite is not huge with this pregnancy.  It's so strange, because I can remember that kind of hunger with my last 2.  I get full so quickly, it's like the baby is already squishing my stomach.  I have absolutely no cravings this time either!  However, I still managed to gain over 20 pounds already- that was due to the first trimester nausea and fatigue.  Eating only carbs coupled with inactivity are a bad combo for me.

Same here. greensad.gif I am REALLY struggling to eat more than once per day. I have no appetite, nothing sounds appealing and everything makes me feel gross and have heartburn. It's concerning because I am pretty active and have a lot of stress going on. I am concerned about pre-e, which I've never had, but lately I have been showing some of the signs, and the only way back from pre-e is through an excellent diet, high in protein. Which I usually have an excellent diet (WAPF style), but this pregnancy has been a weird one for me and I can't seem to eat much of anything.

It is so weird, but for me this baby is still measuring 2 weeks ahead, so apparently she is getting enough.  I'm wondering (and this is just a theory) if I'm just much more well nourished this time around.  I did Gaps last year and have been eating very high nutrient for sometime now.  Even what I do eat this pregnancy (except for the first trimester) has been very nutrient dense, lots of healthy fat and protein, lots of veggies etc.  I definitely was not this healthy with my last 2.   So who knows?

nod.gif I would have to agree with your theory there! I think that GAPS does so much healing and then allows you to truly get all you need from the nutrient dense food you do eat, that you just need less food. Plus, protein and good fats are very filling.

Thyme Mama and kateaton, if y'all are into WAPF-style diets (like me!), do you know we have a preggo chat going on over on the TF forum? Just thought I would mention it :)

what is the tf forum?

The traditional foods forum. It's specifically for people eating this way to talk about their experiences and ask each other questions :)

ETA: the thread is called PG/TTC TF Mamas Chat
