What are you putting in your mouth? - Page 2

What did you eat most recently? Salad with grilled chicken, cucumber, tomatoes, hard boiled egg

What are you craving? Anything and everything. I change my mind every hour - if I see something on TV or read about something I automatically want it. I woke up craving fried jalapenos!

What turns your stomach at the sound of it? Don't hate me... nothing yet. I have had a couple hours of queasiness but overall nothing that makes me feel sick to my stomach. I'm sure I won't be completely lucky to get away without any sickness!

What did you eat most recently? fermented oatmeal with blueberries and raw honey

What are you craving? Snyder's jalepeno pretzles, anything spicy or heavily spiced like indian food, toast with butter, fruit smoothies

What turns your stomach at the sound of it? Meat and greens, usually. Chicken has been the hardest and I find I cannot eat it unless it is marinated breast meat, and at that I can only stomach a few bites. I was eating paleo for 5 mo before I got pregnant and now my family has transitioned back to eating grains and potatoes because of me. No one is complaining though. And we try to sprout them beforehand but I don't always have the energy or memory to do it.

fermented oatmeal??? Can you tell me more about that?  Like, how it tastes, how you do it, benefits?  :D  SOOO Curious!

Just came back from lunch.

I had cold oatmeal (oatmeal, yogurt, raspberries and chia seeds) and a veggie salad.

I wanted to eat what everyone else was eating: grilled cheese, ramen noodles, perogies!

Definitely on a cheese/salt/carb mission.

What did you eat most recently?  A slice of sourdough bread in the car, after an inadvisable little binge on gummy berries and figs.

What are you craving?  Right now a bacon, cucumber, tomato and goat cheese sandwich sounds good.

What turns your stomach at the sound of it?  Chicken.  I just can't handle the smell or thought of it.  Normally I love it, but this pregnancy I've been all about the red meat.

I am a vegan and came down with West Nile at 5 weeks.  Lost a lot of weight and still recovering.  Couldn't eat at all, my vegan diet went down the drain.  Now I"m eating cheese, but no meat again.  Hope to kick the dairy soon.  It's hard when I can't eat veggies.

jodieanneanton, fermented oatmeal (or sprouted, if you want) is a traditional way to prepare grains (and nuts, seeds, and beans) before eating them to help break down their antinutrients which inhibit digestion of all other nutrients. It is easier to digest and absorb all the goodness from food. It tastes just like regular oatmeal. You can soak the oatmeal overnight (or for longer--24 hrs or a few days even) in water and a tbsp sea salt (or apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, or whey). Rinse it under running water in the morning and cook on the stove like normal. You can do this same thing with all legumes and grains, seeds...etc. It is a much healthier way to eat them and doesn't tax the gut, which regular grains and cereals are infamous for. Resources: Fallon's Nourishing Traditions Cookbook and www.westonapricefoundation.org are great! I learned a lot from the GAPS book by Dr. Campbell-McBride, and there is wealth of info on the specific carbohydrate diet website: www.breakingtheviciouscycle.com

Hope you find some useful information!

I'm excited to have my appetite back after having food adverions to almost everything.  It seems anything cooked was off the menu - so I live off raw fruit and veggies.  Right now I'm eating hummus and crackers and grapes.

What did you eat most recently?

I'm eating some Thai green curry with pork right now!

What are you craving?

During my m/s (weeks 5.5-11.5 or so) I craved the junkiest carbs ever-- Cup O'Noodles, Spaghetti-Os, donuts and any sort of fried potatoes.  Now I feel totally back to normal and my eating is good...  If I have a craving, it's for ruby red grapefruit juice.  Oh, and I do crave chopped liver, partly because I love it and partly because I "can't" have it.  I'm not one for lots of restrictions, but I do heat my lunchmeat to steaming and such (to prevent listeriosis)...  Only, with chopped liver, if you try to heat it that much, it just kinda explodes anyway.  lol.gif  Plus the super levels of Vitamin A are not the best in pregnancy.  So I'm leaving it out for as long as I can stand it.

What turns your stomach at the sound of it?

Not much now...  Or ever, I guess.  I didn't have many food aversions, even in the thick of m/s.  I just strongly preferred cr@p.  orngtongue.gif

I literally would chug ruby red grapefruit juice while pregnant with ds. I could not get enough of it.. and typically don't drink it at all!

I need a place to vent. Yesterday I didn't so well and felt like poo at bedtime. Even though I breastfeed and walked an hour, eating 2400 calories was a little too much and I only ate a few fruits and veggies. I think my guilt really lies in the bites of ice cream I stole from my son and the blueberry danish I couldn't resist because they are my favorite thing in Salem and I had an appt. there. Ugh.
