Second Trimester Celebration Thread! « Back to Group Discussions

I just hit the second trimester today and I'm pumped! Anyone else want to have a little emoticon dance party with me to celebrate the end of the scary/icky trimester?

When does it end?  The first trimester?  I keep hearing all different things.  It's driving me batty.

I'm never sure when it's official, either. I hit 12 weeks tomorrow, which is what I used to think the second trimester was, but now I hear it's the end of week 12? Or some people say 14 weeks??? 

I'm excited about hitting 12 weeks tomorrow, though! :)

I've heard 12/13/14 so who knows. Let's just all go with 12. YIPEE!!!

Me today!  I know it is also looked at as 13 weeks, but I always figure 12 weeks is the big mark for pregnancies sticking around, so I celebrate 12 weeks!!!!!

Yaaaay!!!! Me too!!!!! First trimester was not so kind to me... nausea/fatigue, constipation, 2 yeast infectsion...... Here's to a MUCH more comfortable second trimester!!!!!

i'm 12w 6d today! honestly so far the 2nd trimester doesn't feel any different than the 1st. haha

It took me til 14-16 weeks with my other pregnancies for the exhaustion and nausea to disappear. Still happy to be 12 weeks though-- the light at the end of the tunnel is a lot brighter than it was a few weeks ago.

same here!!

I am having longer periods of "good" times.. but for the most part still fairly sick. but the light is definitely brighter

I had my second trimester celebration challenged by a friend and had to look up the official cut off points:

The Developmental second trimester starts at 12 weeks (third at 27 weeks), when it officially becomes a fetus and the scary miscarriage rates reduce.

The Gestational second trimester starts at 13 weeks + 3 days (third at 26 weeks + 6 days), which is the 40 weeks divided equally into three trimesters.

The Conceptional second trimester starts at 14 weeks + 5 days (third at 27 weeks + 3 days), which is the true pregnancy weeks (38) divided into three trimesters.

I'm an agonizing 2w2d away from 12 weeks, but I fully intend to celebrate 2nd tri no later than that.  With my 1st pregnancy my MS was almost totally gone at that point, and that's what counts for me!

Hooray!!! I thought it was 13 weeks, but if 12 weeks begins the "developmental" second trimester and means miscarriage rates drop, I am IN!! I will be officially 12 weeks tomorrow.

I have always thought of 12 weeks as the magical crossover point, even though there are the other later ones. I am not there yet (in three days i will be, by my dates, which are slightly earlier than my ob's). Once i hit 12weeks and see another good u/s i will.feel.comfortable.finally.going all the way public.

I feel a *little* better lately.. i guess the m/s and everything is just going away very gradually this time around..   i'll take it, as long as it gets better!

I feel better - I think.  I haven't really struggled with morning sickness. I get waves that wash over me but nothing too bad.

I am still tired and sleeping a good 90 minutes to 2 hours in the afternoon when my girls have rest time (heh I sleep for the length or whatever movie the oldest chooses :p)

I don't know if the tiredness is my health issues (autoimmune stuff), pregnancy, or missing the ADD meds I was on for 3 years.   Oh well.. it is getting better :)
