Anybody know if there is a special diet, herbs or anything else one can safely take to reduce odds of being Group Beta Strep positive? I had this with my first pregnancy and ended up needing a boatload of antibiotics during labor, since my water broke first. I'd really like to avoid this scenario this time around if at all possible. My daughter has a couple food allergies/ some gut dysbiosis and I really think the ABX during labor played a role. Thanks in advance for any ideas!
I hate GBS!!! This pregnancy when my immune system tanked while suffering from awful morning sickness (and having an awful survival diet) GBS decided to show up in my urine. I had to take abx to clear it as nothing natural worked. Because it means I'm more highly colonized when it gets in the urine- I'm I think 4x (from what I read) more likely to give it to the newborn, which means automatic abx for me :(
After the abx I did the garlic orally and up the vag (I think I did it for a week?), as well as a probiotic suppository. Of course my diet is better now with no morning sickness- zero sugar (other than fruit), lot's of probiotics and all kinds of good stuff. I'm still going to ask for another swab to see if all of that was good enough to change anything. I know it can come and go, so we'll see.
DS had/has food issues because of abx too, so I'm very sensitive about this. But I also have a lot of probiotics and other things to do if I have to take abx to protect this baby and my gut flora if necessary :(
I've heard of people having lots of success kicking/preventing GBS with Hibiclens. I'd google the protocols and research, but saw some potentially good info in this link:
