First Pregnancy - when does it feel real?

I'm about 10 weeks along with my first. I definetly feel pregnant, in all the typical first trimester ways. But often it doesn't feel real that there is actually a baby, yet.

I don't look pregnant, I haven't seen the baby or felt the baby.

I had a dream, last night that I saw my doctor and was told this was all a mistake, there is actually no baby inside me. The dream really reflected the disbelief I sometimes feel about actually having a baby. Is this normal, has anyone else felt this way the first time around?

For me hearing a hb or seeing and early u/s helps, but even then it never feels *really* real until I can feel the baby moving. With my first and second babies I started feeling them at about 13-14 weeks, with baby #3 it wasn't until almost 18 weeks.

I'm not sure it feels "real" yet for me and I'm 38 weeks.  I think it's very normal though to feel that way, particularly before you can feel movement.

Definitely normal - I kept thinking that with more ultrasounds, with movement, etc. it would be real - but honestly, it took a very long time for me to feel like it was "real" - my DH laughed at me, because he would say, "Really??!  Your belly is HUGE and I can see him moving - it's real!" ROTFLMAO.gif

I'm waiting to go to my appointment next month and hearing "you aren't pregnant". This is number 2 for me, but it doesn't feel real at all.
I know that hearing the hb will help, but until i feel the baby/start showing I think I'm going to be in denial.

I have moments of absolute conviction that this is all some fantasy. The rest of the time, I'm in mild denial. It was totally planned, but it's just.. it's not a real thing yet. Maybe once it's born? Or graduates high school? LOL

This is my fifth, and I can say that most of the time, through most of my pregnancies, it doesn't seem real at all. Maybe during labor I clue in.

I'm much the same. Pregnancy is trippy and surreal.

It's absolutely normal. I decided to make it "real-er" for myself by trying to imagine my baby alive and older. So, I started writing him letters every week. It's pretty cool and it definitely makes you start thinking. I'm 31 weeks right now and I still don't think it will be 100% real until he's in my arms...but it is definitely helping me prepare. I've been writing and posting each week's letters on my blog if you want to look to see an idea of what they are like. It can be whatever though...whatever makes you feel comfortable. (:
