weird period question. TMI, sorry!

I had a slight temp drop this morning, and at about 10am started bleeding......it was bright red/pink blood mixed with clear fluid.  We BD last night, so thought nothing of it.  No heavy bleeding like a normal start to a period for me (I don't have them often, my last one was before I got pg with my 2yo.....She weaned in June, so this is my first PPAF).  I put in an instead cup and wore that for about 5 hours, and there was just a little bit of bright red blood in it.  My bleeding has now slowed to almost nothing, and I just checked my cervix, and it's closed.  This is so weird!  What would cause it to start and stop like that?  Normally, I start with a medium to heavy flow right away with no breaks.

Maybe a slight progesterone drop caused you to start to bleed a bit. But maybe you are pregnant which is why you never got your full on period.

It was weird.....I had the bleeding for just a few hours, then nothing for the rest of the day.....I woke the next morning to a for real period.  It's not nearly as heavy as I was expecting, though.  Just a very "regular" flow.
