As for me:

  • EDD: Between 3/29 (My babies usually go to 41+ weeks so it's pretty unlikely that I'll have a March baby)
  • Your Name: (if you would like to share) Cari
  • Age: 31
  • State or Country: WA
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP: Stopped actively preventing in 2010, tried off and on throughout 2011 actively trying since April 2012.
  • What number child is this for you: 4
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): Hubby and kiddo's are all in my siggy ~ I also own a petstore so I have *lots* of fur babies including 2 dogs, 4 cats, a bird, a rabbit, a couple of guinea pigs and lots more!
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): We've got 3 girls so far so it would really be nice to have a boy, but I'm 100% ok with another girl too!
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: DD1 was born at a hospital and the experience was less then ideal. DD2 & 3 were both home water births and they were wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, my midwife passed away last year (she had ALS) so we're going to have to find a new midwife this time around. We're definitely going for another home wb though :)

WOW..thought we were done....I guess not!

Tested positive today.

I am 31

I'll say due middle april just because my first two were late.

This will be #3.

We live in Bloomington Indiana

I had a C/S with my first, VBAC with the second, and hoping for a homebirth with this baby.

I got a big surprise positive yesterday- thought we were done!

EDD-  I'm guessing early April.  Haven't had a period in 2 months, but I've been testing bi-weekly for the past month.

I have 2 rambunctious boys, so I would be really thrilled for a girl this time around.

Hoping for a natural birth, but in a hospital setting (sounds oxymoron, but I did it with ds2)

I'm still in shock, really. I already got rid of all my baby stuff. We've outgrown our home, but can't move. ds2 just stopped bf-ing and is sleeping all night finally. Just when I get my body and my sleep back...  it'll be interesting but we'll embrace and love a new little, I know.

EDD: April 1st, so I'll probably hang out in the March DDC too, seeing as my 1st son came a week early :)

Age: 30

State: VA

How long it took: First try! Only had 2 postpartum periods before I got the positive result. Found out around week 3...I always have really early symptoms and knew it when I got an almost invisible 2nd line.

What # child is this? 2nd.

Family: DS, who is currently 19 mos., DH, and our fat cat who will NOT be thrilled about #2!

Baby's gender? I have a feeling it could be a girl but it may just be b/c I want a chance to use my girl name :)

Birth plans: hoping for my 2nd homebirth

All of this is very exciting but a little terrifying! We're renovating our house, I'm still nursing DS a TON, and debating on what to do about work since I work FTOH. So many things to think about...

Hello, and congrats, everyone!

I am newly pregnant (due in early April) with our first and my wife and I are excited - and terrified - about what is in store, both in terms of pregnancy and parenthood...  We were trying for four months, which felt epic at the time, but now with a positive pregnancy test (or five...) in our hands, it doesn't seem all that bad after all.

So far, so good.  Very tired and definitely beginning to feel emotional at unexpected times.  Also, my breasts are ridiculously painful - I'm hoping that won't last too much longer.

I'm glad to have 8 more months to wrap my mind around this, but I'm also impatient for it all to get underway!

EDD: April 4, though I will be telling people "first half of April" because both my DD and DS were born several days after their EDDs.
Your Name: Lisa

Age: 27

State or Country: IL, US

How long it took to you to get your BFP: we were actively avoiding, but I royally messed up my dates and ovulation symptoms and here we are!
What number child is this for you: #3!!

Family: DH of 7 years, DD (12/08), DS (09/10) and two noisy dogs (of whom I've always said they will be the first to go if I ever got pregnant again! We live in a 1000 sq ft townhouse so we're going to have to make room somehow!)

Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): absolutely no preference! We have clothes for either!
Birth Plans/Preferences: homebirth. DD was a perfect hospital birth with a family practice Dr, but he retired so DS was born at home. Wonderful home experience, never want to give birth anywhere but my bedroom again. I will be using a different midwife group though.
Blog, website or the like:
Anything else you'd like to share: I'm flaky about online groups, but I'll try to be a better group member this time around! In the past I've never felt like I have much advice to offer to anyone else, but now I'm a CBE and Doula, so hopefully I'll be able to contribute something in addition to my own mothering experiences.

  • EDD (feel free to use beginning/middle/end of month, if you prefer) - very late March / early April
  • Your Name: (if you would like to share) Erin
  • Age: 31
  • State or Country: Massachusetts
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP: 2mo*
  • What number child is this for you: child #2, pregnancy #6
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or fur babies): see siggy, then add 9yr old black lab mix Guinness, and 7yr old choc lab Moxie
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): Chase wants a sister
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: home birth as of now
  • Blog, website or the like: I run The Research Mommies on Facebook.  I just post a lot of articles about parenting in line with Mothering type principles
  • Anything else you'd like to share:  This pregnancy is very special to us, obviously with so many losses, but in addition, my mom has Stage IV lung cancer and she never smoked.  She was diagnosed early May of this year.  If she makes it a year, which is about the average survival, she and the baby will have a little time together.  This baby is likely my mom's last chance to meet another grandchild.
  • EDD  April 4
  • Your Name: Erin
  • Age: 31
  • State or Country: Colorado now, but moving to Kansas in a few weeks.
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP:
  • What number child is this for you: 5th living. 9th pregnancy
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): Husband Kerry, DS 9, 7, 3, 2. I have had 2 early m/c and 2 second trimester losses. A son Knox born at 15 weeks in December and a daughter Lillian at 14 weeks in May (she had Turner Syndrome)
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): Beats me. I'll take either.
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: Planning a homebirth
  • Blog, website or the like:
  • Anything else you'd like to share: I'm a little nervous after 2 losses in 6 months this last year. I have been diagnosed with MTHFR and a clotting disorder called Prothrombin 2 mutation (both genetic, but treatable). I may not post much initially until I get past that 15 week mark for me. This pregnancy caught us a bit by surprise, but we are thrilled. My husband is a pastor and we will be moving for a new pastorate position in a few weeks. I am a nurse (worked primarily in L&D) and teach nursing as well. I will likely stay home and work part time when we move.

Both Erin's, both 31, both have MTHFR.  what luck!  I am treating mine with baby aspirin and deplin, an rx for methylfolate.  what about you?

Welcome to the April group!! I'll get everyone added to the roster later today!

Hi everyone!  Looking forward to being part of this group.  Here are my "stats":

EDD: April 5th

Name: Robina

Age: 32, soon to be 33

Location: Brooklyn, NYC (hence the username!)

How long it took to get a BFP: This was our first try.  I had a whirlwind surprise pregnancy and subsequent very early miscarriage last month and it made us both realize we were ready for our third.

What number child this is: This will be baby #3

Family: I live with my husband, daughter (4.5), and son (2).  We have a dog and a cat too.  I also have lottttts of extended family around!

Baby's gender: No guesses.  This is unusual for me because I "knew" immediately with both of the other kids.  I actually even had an immediate feeling with the m/c last month.  I guess this is my coy child.  orngtongue.gif

Birth plans: We are planning our third homebirth

Blog: www.smallthingsgrow.com (be forewarned I used aliases for my kids on there so if I refer to them here it might be with different names!  wink1.gif

Miscellaneous: I am a student midwife, and this will be my first pregnancy as such so it will be interesting!

Hey ladies :)  I'm tentatively coming to join you over here.

  • EDD - Technically about March 29, but we'll be telling people it's a week or two later than that, because I don't want to get the "OMG YOU'RE OVERDUE AND GOING TO DIEEEE!" speech from people again. Plus, my son was born at 41+1, so I'll probably be birthing an April baby :)
  • Age: 20, turning 21 at the end of April
  • State or Country: Canada
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP:  We were kind of NTNP, with more emphasis on the not TRYING part of things. A definite surprise, but a good one at that :)  It has been almost a year since my last m/c, though.
  • What number child is this for you: 4th pregnancy, 1 living child - I was 16, and he was placed for open adoption.
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): Me and DP, our two crazy dogs (St Bernard X and Bullmastiff X), and a kitty.
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): Honestly, right now, I'll just be thrilled to have this pregnancy end in a baby.
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: I would love to have a homebirth, but our local midwives (okay, midWIFE) is all booked up for March - so it looks like I'm going to be stuck with an in-hospital, OB-managed birth. Gag.
  • Anything else you'd like to share:  After 2 consecutive m/c's, we are VERY scared about this pregnancy. Not to mention that I've been bleeding for the past week. No cramping, my hormones are still going up, etc. Doctors are starting to just tell me "you're fine, go home." when I go in to ask for my hormones to be checked :(  Ultrasound on the 3rd to check things out though (i'm excited, as it will probably be our only u/s - we don't usually use doppler or u/s!)

Welcome to the club everyone!

Erin how crazy is that? I didn't even catch it the first time I read through it.

I am compound heterozygous (so a mutation on both alleles for the MTHFR). Right now I am taking aspirin and overloading on folic acid simply because my insurance won't cover methlyfolate right now. I have an appointment on August 6 with maternal fetal medicine to talk about their recommendations for this pregnancy.

So glad that you're here. I was afraid I was going to be a "weird" one in this group. ;)

Hello!

  • EDD - April 4th
  • Age: 29
  • State: MD
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP: 1 month!
  • What number child is this for you: Our first
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): My husband (married three years, together for eight) and I have two boston terrier dogs, a boy (4 yro) and a girl (2.5 yro). I wouldn't mind any advice/thoughts about how to introduce our dogs (both rescues - and spoiled) to a new baby and our new family life.
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): First, we want a healthy and happy baby. In his heart of hearts my husband wants a girl. (Which is so sweet and so him). I would like one also. But also look forward to what  life with a little boy would be like. Either way I look forward to the change in our lives and what a child will teach us. My husband wants to know what we are having. My original response is to wait. Thoughts on this?
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: We are currently clients of a midwifery practice based in a local hospital and imagine this will not change. I hope for an unmedicated and natural birth. I have a younger sister and was there for hers and come from a holistic family. I am currently thinking that we will read the Bradley Method on our own (so that my husband has the knowledge, structure, and expectations he needs) and I am hoping to take a Hynobirthing class. We will also have a doula at our birth in addiiton to the midwife. And hopefully my mother, who is located across the country. Fingers crossed!

All for now, I look forward to our discussion!
