Updated Due Date is now April 9, not the 4th, based on late ovulation. We went to our first appointment with the midwife yesterday and saw the baby for the first time. Very exciting and totally surreal.

• How long it took to you to get your BFP: 0 mos...Apparently 5 minutes after you remove a NuvaRing you are a Fertile Myrtle LOL! We were in the "if it happens it happens"  mindset but holy cow! That happened fast! Did not find out I was pg until middle of last week, at apparently 9w.

Hi, I'm IronMam! I was in a Mothering.com DDC for my first child, but I made a new account for this time for a few different reasons.

I'm 26.
I'm in Western Canada.
It took a month or two to get a BFP.
This is number two for our family.
I have DH, and DD (3yo).
I have a feeling this one is a boy, but I'd be happy with either.
Planning a midwife assisted birth in a hospital, if any of the local midife practices can fit me in.

• How long it took to you to get your BFP:We weren't trying but we weren't avoiding either (we have been wanting another child for some time)

• Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): I will be married 14 years in Oct, and we have DS 9, DS 7, and DD 5.
• Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): No intuition or preference but I have been thinking about a particular boys name for about the past 6 weeks
• Birth Plans/Preferences: I really want to have a home birth this time around but I had a total thyroidectomy in June and I don't know if that will keep the midwives here from attending me

• Anything else you'd like to share: As I mention above I recently had a total thyroidectomy and have only really felt back to normal since the middle of July. In a couple of weeks we will begin our 4th year homeschooling and I am really excited but a little nervous because I am unsure how pregnancy will impact things, the last time I was pregnant I had a house full of toddlers and preschoolers...this has got to be easier right?

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you, and sharing our journies.

Hi, Fairymama.  I also homeschool my kids, and yes, it WILL be easier this time!  I had my last baby when my boys were 4 and 2, and my homeschoolers were pre-teens and teens.  That was interesting!  We were literally AT a swim meet before she was 24 hours old.  And then of course there were still diapers for the 2yo, and lots and lots of books, and no naps, and .... wow.  This is going to be cake!

I hope you're going to have a blast with the age spread!

• How long it took to you to get your BFP: Surprise PG!
• What number child is this for you: 6th pregnancy, hoping for 4th baby
• Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies):  I have a dd age 18 and in college.  My dss are almost 13 and 9.
• Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses):  As my oldest is a girl and I have two boys in between, I think another girl would be cool but another boy would be just fine too!
• Birth Plans/Preferences: I had two natural hospital births with my first 2 and a c/s with my third for due to him being transverse.  I would LOVE a UC but will probably have a hospital VBAC due to all my medical issues.

• Anything else you'd like to share:  I tried for two years to get pg with the last baby I lost (Christmas 2 yrs ago) and then tried for 6 mo to ttc again.  My husband of 19 yrs and I were divorced last fall and this pg with my SO is a HUGE shock.  I was on the pill at the time I got pg and I still do not know my due date.  I am over the moon but also very nervous about loosing another one.  Thankfully, many symptoms of pg are helping to give me hope that all is well with the Little Bean.  I love cloth momma pads and am looking forward to using cloth diapers again.

Spruce...thanks for the encouragement! We start after labor day and I still have a bit of prep work to do but I can't seem to pull my head out of baby land and finnish it up lol. I am really excited about having a baby and older kids who can enjoy this sibbling in a way that they couldn't at 4 and 2.
