Has anyone updated the first page list on this thread anytime lately? I know a LOT of people have posted intros since I have, but I check every week or so and I am still not on the list and it doesn't ever seem any longer...which got me wondering.

The original poster of the thread is the only one who can update the post. I know she comes back in every couple of weeks or so and does it. It shouldn't be long!

Sorry it's taken me so long to update - it just takes a really long time and I'm super paranoid about getting the info mixed up so I put it off. I'm in the middle of updating it right now though thumb.gif

I didn't remember joining this group yet - I went to finally join, only to find I was already a part! *lol*  Anyway, intro:

EDD: April 22nd

Nombre: Brendalee (I know, I'm so creative in screen name choices, huh?)

Age: 34 (33 at conception, partner was 20 at conception, 21 for the birth)

Location: North Shore, Massachusetts

How long to BFP: Um, I'd been told multiple times I was infertile. I loosely chart, TTA anyway, just to be safe, but my current partner lives 200mi away & I've had to plan my trips at least 2 weeks in advance & can't deviate.  So, when my cycle jumped from 25d to 28d one month, it got all thrown off.  I decided it didn't really matter anyway...and the night my MIL asked me when I was gonna give her grandchildren (upon the 1st time meeting, I might add - and I'm 13 yrs older than her son...and she's 13 years older than me. heh) I'm pretty sure is TheNightThingsCompletelyChangedInMyLifeFOREVER. ;)

Any other kids?: This is my 3rd pregnancy, 1st kidlet.  The other 2 I didn't even know I was preggo until I miscarried at about 10-11wks - I was 15 for the first, 18 for the second.  Both SERIOUS birth control failures.  At 18 I managed to get pregnant through Depo-Provera, a (dry) diaphragm & a (broken) condom. Lovely.

Needless to say, I tried not to get too excited about this one until we passed the 1st trimester!

Family situation: Beloved feline Jamie Basil, 11 years old - I attended his birth, which was in my ex-husband's study!  I even broadcast MommaCat's labor & delivery over the internet!  *grin*  It was mostly so I could keep an eye on her from the other room, and let her do whatever she needed to do, but I thought my friends might be interested as well (I had 7 cats at the time of Jamie's birth). MommaCat had a stillborn & Jamie & that's it!  So, what was adding one more cat to the menagerie, right? ;)  (we were "temporarily" taking care of Momma & she musta got preggo on her 1st heat, the morning she moved into our place! No one knew she was preggo until the day of delivery! I thought she had worms! *lol*).

Jamie has been AWESOME throughout my pregnancy.  Ever since I became pregnant, he's been right next to me almost the entire time (he obviously knew before I did!  I didn't understand the change in his behaviour, but it made a lot more sense when I got my BFP a week or two later!).  I sleep right near the front door, and he sleeps either next to my head (nearest the door) or if I push him away, down by my calves.  He now loves to lay directly against my lower back, which is nice - both warm & some pressure (he's a big boy!).  he circles me near-constantly - we call it 'doing his circuit'.  He also doesn't like any one else, and especially doesn't like other cats (there's 4 others in the house) coming near me. *lol*  He does like my partner, though!

DP is Joe, 21 years old.  He lives 200mi away, which is stressful, but we plan to have him in MA by the time the baby arrives. :)  He's very excited about Kiddo's impending arrival, and we keep stressing each other out with our various unnecessary anxieties. ;)

Baby's Gender: Girl! Cadence Marie.  Just as I knew when I got pregnant, I've known from the beginning that this baby would be a girl.  I wonder if I'll just *know* again if there's a next time?

Birth Plans/Preferences: I'm hoping for as natural a birth as possible in the hospital. I have some issues that are going to affect Kiddo, so hospital it is. *sigh*  And she's gonna be in the Special Needs Nursery for a bit as well - hopefully less than a week, but a month wouldn't be out of the realm of normal either. :'(  Wish I could've planned things better, but...there was no plan in place!  So I gotta work with what I've got.  It'll be okay, and all work out in the end. :)  Nothing major, more annoyance than anything, but has to be addressed. Oh well.  We'll be doing good if this is the extent of her problems in life! ;)

Anything else? Nah.  I've been overly verbose enough in this post already!  *grin*

Hello! New here. :) I'm Rose (25), expecting my third somewhere around 4/27/13. I'm married to the most fantastic man ever and have two beautiful boys (they will be 4 and 2 when this baby is born). We've decided not to find out the gender this time around...should be exciting either way! I kind of feel like it's a girl, but I'll definitely be happy with whoever is in there. ^^ I'm hoping and planning for another beautiful homebirth (DS1 - an attempted homebirth but we had to transfer to hospital, DS2 - successful homebirth, hooray!).

Looking forward to learning and socializing with the group!

Add me! Thanks for organizing Firespiritmelody!

EDD: 4/5/2013

Age: 27 for me. 30 for my DF when the babies arrive.

State: AZ

How long to get your BFP?: Well let's just say it happened about 2-3 years earlier than we were planning on trying for. I went to CO for a week of awesome climbing with my girlfriends and felt oddly bloated and sick the whole time. Came home thinking I had contracted some sort of horrible parasite from river water. Turns out I was a few weeks pregnant with twins! Yikes!

What number child is this for you?: 1st and 2nd

Gender: Two girls. Or so we think. About 90% sure on Baby A, who would no stop kicking and wriggling around during our anatomy scan.

Birth Plans: All my life I envisioned a natural birth at home or in a birthing center with a midwife. I don't know about other states, but in AZ midwives can not legally deliver twins at home, birth centers can not accept you as a patient, and my insurance does not contract with any midwives or doulas for in hospital assistance. Maybe if these weren't my firsts I'd feel confident going it alone at home. But right now I am just praying that my little girls go full term and decide to move head down so I can try for a vaginal delivery in the hospital. They are Di/Di and my doctor is willing to work with me if Baby B is breech so my chances are good. But Baby A has been hanging out transverse in my pelvis like it's her own personal hammock since our first US, so I'm thinking about hanging upside down till she moves, lol.

Family and About Us: My fiance and I have prided ourselves on being spontaneous and adventurous. Our first "date" was a technical climb up one of Sedonas famous sandstone spires followed by many weekends of outdoor, fly by the seat of your pants climbing trips. For me at least, pregnancy has been incredibly humbling. I can't just throw a few cliff bars in a stuff sack and disapear into the woods for a couple days. Those babies need to eat ALOT all ready. A healthy dose of optimistic humor, mental and physical fortitude and luck has gotten us through some "fun" situations. I'm hoping we can apply that same mix to raising our kids. Since we won't be running off into the wild yonder every week, we're considering adding some livestock to the back yard. Maybe start with some chickens and goats. Currently we have two wonderful dogs and two cuddly cats.

I'm a little late to the party - I hope it's okay to join!

  • Due Date: April 23
  • Your Name: Petra
  • Age: 37
  • State or Country: Maryland
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP: This time we weren't really trying, but are happily surprised! Older brother is 3 years older.
  • What number child is this for you: #3
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): Dh - Brian, DD - Sam (almost 7), DS - Doyle, aka "Mr. D" (3)
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): boy
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: I've had two lovely, unmedicated birth center births, but they're trying hard to risk me out. I'm diabetic and have been for 12 years. My blood sugar is well controlled and I've had two 7lb. babies, but apparently there is now some risk that my kidneys will fail, I'll grow a 10lb baby and everyone will die. *eyeroll*

Absolutely okay to join! Welcome Petra!

Hi everyone!  This is Baby#2 for me, due April 6, a girl.  I'm just 30 weeks now, but already feeling weary.  Rejoined the Mothering forums so that I don't constantly whine to DH and friends... :)  Oh, and BTW, I'll be 46 by the time she arrives.  So far a normal pregnancy - just squeaked by the 28 week gestational diabetes test!  Yay for me!
