Welcome to the April 2013 Due Date Club! (Roster & Intros!) - Page 2

Hi everyone.  COngrats to all.

BFP (faint, period not due for 2 days..allegedly) this morning.

Age: 40 (I'm the old bag of this group I guess :)  )

Child no. 2

Last birth was a home birth with midwives in a 6th floor apartment, this birth...I'm sooo much older now I doubt they'll let me do that again.  We'll see.  I'm open.

Been trying for about 4-5 months.

EDD: April 15th according to those online calculator thingies.

I signed up with a midwife this morning so we'll see!

EDD: I'm not sure when I ovulated this month, so beginning-mid April

I'm Ruth. Nice to meet you :-)

Age: 32

Location: Chicago suburb

How long it took to you to get your BFP: Well, we've been leaving it up to fate for 3-4 months.

What number child is this for you: 2

Family: My partner, also the father. My 5 and a half year old daughter and I moved from Milwaukee to be with him in mid-June.

Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): I just know it'll be a boy. No preference either way, just a strong intuition.

Birth Plans/Preferences: I would LOVE a home birth but as far as the info I've found, it's illegal in Illinois. I really haven't had a chance to do much research yet, but I have plenty of time. If anyone has any info, I'd love to read it!

Anything else you'd like to share: I don't have any friends where we moved yet, so if anyone happens to be in a Chicago suburb and wants to message me, go ahead!

EDD: 4/13
Age: 33
State or Country: CO
How long it took to you to get your BFP: 1 cycle of trying after multiple losses in the past year
What number child is this for you: 6th pregnancy, 2nd child
Family: husband, DD (2.5), 1 dog, 2 cats, 8 chickens
Birth Plans/Preferences: I'd love a home birth, but I had a great natural hospital birth the first time around- I'd take anything at this point!
Anything else you'd like to share: My DH has a balanced translocation, which means that our odds for a healthy baby are about 1 in 4. We have had a really rough year with many losses before 10 weeks, but we're choosing to be hopeful about this new pregnancy. We know that since we have our wonderful daughter, we can have another. I hope this is the one!!

Ruth, I have a friend around Chicago parts who is awesome.  She is also a student midwife who has had two homebirths, so I bet she can help you sort through your birth questions.  If you'd like me to put you guys in touch, PM me your email address (I don't think she's on mothering, but I can ask).

Welcome, everyone!

plugging my answers in below:

As for me:

  • EDD: sometime around April 9
  • Your Name: (if you would like to share) Viviene
(I appear to be a new member but I have belonged to MDC since 08 w username OrchideZ. I went through a frustrating thing this week of forgetting my password, resubmitting that "forgotten password" form multiple times, never getting anything sent to my email even checking my spam folder. I then filled out a help form on here, haven't heard anything back so I decided to just log in through Facebook...whew...a lot of hoops to jump through!)
  • Age: 41
  • State or Country: California
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP: I am still in disbelief! I was pregnant (conceived in May, was in the Feb 13 DDC) then lost that pregnancy on July 3. I went to see my OB a week later and she said I could try again whenever I felt up to it. We only DTD once (but I could tell I ovulated a day or so later) and I POAS two days ago, got a positive! So I guess it didn't take long at all.
  • What number child is this for you: 3
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): Husband and two little ones (Jasper is almost 4, Tallulah is 2). We have two elderly cats. One is almost 24 years old!
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): According to Shettles method, I am guessing girl but we would be open to either.
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: This will be VBAC #2 and it will be in a hospital. Our preferences much like with VBAC #1 will be for minimal interventions, privacy.

EDD: April 5th

Name: Robina

Age: 32, soon to be 33

Location: Brooklyn, NYC (hence the username!)

How long it took to get a BFP: This was our first try.  I had a whirlwind surprise pregnancy and subsequent very early miscarriage last month and it made us both realize we were ready for our third.

What number child this is: This will be baby #3

Family: I live with my husband, daughter (4.5), and son (2).  We have a dog and a cat too.  I also have lottttts of extended family around!

Baby's gender: No guesses.  This is unusual for me because I "knew" immediately with both of the other kids.  I actually even had an immediate feeling with the m/c last month.  I guess this is my coy child.  orngtongue.gif

Birth plans: We are planning our third homebirth

Blog: www.smallthingsgrow.com (be forewarned I used aliases for my kids on there so if I refer to them here it might be with different names!  wink1.gif

Miscellaneous: I am a student midwife, and this will be my first pregnancy as such so it will be interesting!

Robina, hello! We were in May 10 DDC together. As I explained in my intro, I couldn't get into my account (OrchideZ) so this is me but a new me.
I just went through a miscarriage too. I was in the Feb DDC and had a loss on July 3. How strange life is...we seem to be paralleling each other somewhat! hug2.gif

EDD:  Mid-April

Age: 29

State or Country: Southern US

How long it took to you to get your BFP: 2 years of ttc and one miscarriage, so we are thrilled right now.

What number child is this for you: 1st

Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DH and I have been married 7 years, together 11.  We have a scaredy cat Sasha who is scared of just about everything but us but also amazingly gentle.

Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses):  Deep down I'm hoping for a girl.  But that would be the cherry on top of the whipped cream, on top of the hot fudge, on top of the ice cream. :-)  I'm thrilled just to have a hot fudge sundae, no need for a cherry.

Birth Plans/Preferences:  I would love a homebirth and DH is an enthusiastic supporter of that idea.  Next week I start contacting midwives to see if I can find one I'm comfortable with.  We do have a hospital here with midwives and I could possibly do a natural birth there, so it is nice to have a good back-up plan too.

EDD: around April 7, by my estimate
Your Name: Jenny
Age: 36

What number child is this for you: 4
Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DP, DD1 16, DD2 14, DS 14 months
Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): I would love a little boy so DS can have a brother close to his age, but I have a girl feeling (corny, I know) and that would be delightful, too.
Birth Plans/Preferences: after 2 hospital births and one homebirth, I would really like to try a birth center. Maybe another homebirth if that proves too expensive, but I want to avoid the hospital if at all possible.
Anything else you'd like to share: we just confirmed the pregnancy tonight after suspecting and fearing for a few days... We still have some reality checking to do smile.gif
