Kelly, I recommend getting in touch with mama's in the local area of where you will be moving to in Georgia and get midwife recommendations. Then call around to the recommended midwives and let them know your situation. You might be able to find one who would be glad to work with you and your situation. I have a friend stationed at Robins who I could see if she can ask around for you, if you'll be in that area.

Hi, Amanda!   FWIW, I'm 40, live out of town, have severe asthma and am not high-risk.  :)  I've had  4 midwife-assisted births and they've been cake.  Hopefully you can find a midwife who lives in your area, or travels to you!

love, penelope

I'm stepping out there and going to join this group.  hide.gif I look forward to getting to know you all soon.

  • EDD: April 7th 2013
  • Your Name: We'll stick w/ Blue
  • Age: 35 or "advanced maternal age" as they say :0(
  • State or Country: OH
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP: 6-7 yrs
  • What number child is this for you:  1st but technically 4th.  Lost twin boys at 22.5 weeks and another angel in Heaven lost at ~ 10wks
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies):  DH and our furbaby Abby, a 1 yr old German Shorthaired Pointer
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses):  Just want a healthy take home baby
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: Hospital
  • Blog, website or the like: n/a
  • Anything else you'd like to share:  After TTC for about a year w/ no luck we turn to fertility ( Diagnosis of unexplained IF) and after about 3 injectable  IUI's we got pregnant w/ twin boys and were ecstatic and then devastated after going into per-term labor at 22.5wks.  Took some time off to heal and then back to the IUI's the same way we got pregnant w/ the boys, but after 3 more injectable IUI's and no luck they suggested that we move on to IVF.  Started IVF and our 1st IVF we got a BFP, but then m/c'd at around ~10 wks.  After a total of 6 IVF's ( 3 fresh and 3 frozen & a totally depleted savings) and no take home baby we threw in the towel and decided either we were ment to not have children or we would have to start saving money and maybe head down the adoption route.  We were on our 2nd month after throwing in the towel and just trying to figure out what the answer was (no kids or adopt), we got our very first miracle BFP.  We were, and still are, totally in shock!!!  I did have an u/s last week and we did see and hear a heartbeat at 6wks 4days, but still are cautiously optimistic and a little nervous too.

I had a heck of a time finding the DDC since I forgot they had switched over to groups...  Anyhow, hi everyone and congratulations!

  • EDD (feel free to use beginning/middle/end of month, if you prefer): late April - according to the calculator April 23
  • Age: 30
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP:  I took a test the evening of the day I would have expected my period... which was also my birthday!  DP and I went out to dinner and then stopped at Target afterwards to pick up some soap and stuff.  I already had a pretty good idea that I was pregnant so I wasn't going to bother to take a test for a while... but then the tests were there, and I was there, so I bought one, came home, took it and got the best 30th birthday present ever.
  • What number child is this for you: 2
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DD, her dad, and I.  Oh, and two cats.
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: No clue.  DD was born at the hospital and it was a positive experience, but going to the doctor gives me the worst anxiety.  I am switching us to a family medicine center down the street from us (and affiliated with the hospital where she was born) which hopefully should help.

I am already crazy nesty.  We live in an apartment the size of a postage stamp so I've been decluttering like I'm being paid.

Awww. Thanks, Penelope!  I figured all the mamas, that had me beat in age, would be rolling their eyes.  redface.gif  I know our state (or could it have just been my last midwife?) had an upper age limit for midwife assisted birth outside of a hospital.  And I know that I was feeling that it would be tight for my next baby.  I just never thought that my ovaries would take a 3 year+ hiatus. Gotta love full term breast feeding! lol.gif  Actually sent an email with my questions to my previous midwife.  Now I am trying to patiently wait for her reply.  Patience is not always one of my stronger qualities..... for instance: Only 35.5 weeks to go!  orngtongue.gif

Looks like my updated Due date is May 5, not April 30th. I realized after getting my hcg tested that I was way off on when I thought I ovulated but I do know when we had sex.

Well no more same day babies. :( Lol. Btw, I know you messaged me but I can't send them yet. I have to wait till I'm more active on the site. Lol.

haha ok. Hi! I suppose we still could end up having same day babies if one of us goes late and one goes early!

LOL....I dont even THINK about my EDD because really it's irritating for me to count down to something. When I passed it by 8 days on my last baby I was totally cool about it...in the past I dreaded reaching the "due date". Shoot...last time...I was due according to LMP on May 13, by my best guess May 19, by ultrasound May 22, and he came on May 30. Frick! I was pregnant for a month too long almost lol ;)

This time my LMP says the 22...according to a 30 day cycle (which I used to be but with a 30 day cycle I should have not been fertile when I got pregnant lol) says the 24th....we'll see what U/S says lol

I so hear you!  My longest truly overdue baby was somewhere between 19 and 21 days "late."  She was 8 lbs, 0 oz, which is a big baby for me.  ALL of my babies have cooked longer than most peoples', until my last one, who was born on ... HER DUE DATE!  Very freaky.

My EDD is April 11, so we're just telling people, "Some time in April."

love, p

My fourth was born with spontaneous labor on her EDD also. I have two that came on their EDD's but the first was induced lol. Doesn't count ;) Of my two spontaneous I have one on the EDD and one 8 days late. LOL....so I have NO CLUE what to expect that at some point I will have a baby! HA HA..

My first came a few hours after her due date and my second was born on her due date :) Maybe this one will be a day early?
