Sciatica

I have had this pain down my right leg since Sunday.  I have been sleeping really fitfully at night with the pain and then working full-time at my job as a toddler teacher.  I can't pick up the kids at work and they try to climb onto my lap all day... I have to be active with them and we are outside most of the morning.  So far I am just sticking it out and doing stretches when I can and using a heating pad at night.  I was thinking of getting a massage from a physical therapist or seeing a chiropractor... not sure what would be more effective.  Does anyone have any experience with how to get through this?  From what I have read, your uterus can press down on that nerve as it gets bigger and in that case, the pain doesn't go away until you have your baby.  4-5 more months of this isn't something I want to go through.

CHIROPRACTIC. It saved my life with DS 2&3, with this exact symptom as well as severe SI joint pain that caused my hips to ache like no one's business. I also have a massage therapist friend who did great work on both, not a fun relaxing massage but very therapeutic. Chiro will actually reallign where things are falling though. Good luck!

Oh good, I'm so glad it helped you.  I went on yelp and found a chiropractor that works with pregnant women.  I sent an appointment request and hopefully she can get me in soon!  I also got a Snoogle body pillow and it's so comfy.  Maybe that will help me sleep better.  I'm traveling to see my family in Texas next week.  They are having a baby shower for me and I don't want to be in this pain while I'm there!

If you can afford it go for both.  I have SI issues and am doing chiro and manipulative physiotherapy.

Sego, did the SI issues cause any problems with your births?  Or just the pgs?

The Snoogle cured me!  I never buy gimicky things, but I'm so glad I bought this pillow.  On Tuesday night, I slept on it and I woke up 8 hours later in the exact same position I started off in.  My leg pain was completely gone.  I slept great on it last night and I still don't have any pain.  I haven't been sleeping well, trying to stuff pillows all around me and keep on my side.  The pillow keeps me on my side with my legs, knees, and ankles supported in a neutral position.  I think that is what made the inflammation go down and my pain go away.  joy.gif
