Maybe the doctor wanted to add in RV and flu? In any event, possibly getting a detail wrong (12 versus 14) does not mean the story is bs. It might be, but who knows? My crystal ball is broken.
I think this storyn is fake.
No matter how you count there would ot be 14 vaccines.
No medical student would do something like this because the punishment would be too sever.
A doctor would not do soemthing like this. This is physical assault and procedures are done wihout consent only by court order or expreme emergency or under 5150.
The reference to Kmart is because flu shots are obviously being administered NOW. The difference between you and Kmart, doctor, is you charge for flu shots and they are giving them away "free".
This story is so obviously fake because no doctor would ever count the number of vaccines incorrectly.
Or did he count them incorrectly?
hepatitis B
diphtheria
tetanus
pertussis
Hib
pneumococcal
polio
flu (yes, they are currently giving flu shots in the U.S.) I couldn't escape the advertisements at RiteAid today.
measles
mumps
rubella
varicella
hepatitis A
meningococcal

That's 14.
There is immunological rhyme and reason for sequence and combination of the vaccines. So, not one would give all 14 together. It would render some of them not so effect ice.
Also, it would not be 14 shots because of combos.
You don't know she made up the story. For all you know the doctor did threaten to give her child 14 shots. He might have been trying to "teach her a lesson" for daring to defy the holy rite of vaccination, because without the baptism of vaccination we are all damned doomed.
Agreed.
Probably not Hep A either unless I am reading the CDC website wrong. It appears that it is only given after 24 months to those who are high risk or who live in states where a widespread mandatory vaccination program is in place (ie it is required for school/daycare) which Indiana is not on that list (which is her location according to the blog.
Around here they offer the flu shot as did my dh's pulmonologist offered it to him last week, and it's becoming a year round available vaccine.......and i can't think of any reason why someone would want to make up a story like that.

Yeah maybe. Or maybe it makes a great story to add to the paranoia for which people who are anti vaccination get famous for.
I don't think that anyone should vaccinate their child or not vaccinate their child without knowing what the actual research says. I do know that that doing no research and vaccinating is far more common than doing no research and not vaccinating. However the rampant paranoia and hysteria does NOTHING to make the situation better. It makes it worse and it makes it so that people here on MDC who are new and trying to make good decisions have to weed through a bunch of blown out of proportion crap (I mean this in general terms, not specific to this blog post) in order to get any real answers that could actually help make good solid choices.
And now she's made her blog private.
Yup, no reason there to doubt her sincerity!
..or she did not like her blog being discussed over here.
Having privacy concerns has little to do with whether or not her story is true.
